Neil Morrice Best Bets & Tips

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Wednesday’s racing taking place at Goodwood, Kempton Park, Redcar, and Perth!

GOODWOOD

Race 3: No9 – GLEEDS GIRL (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Nicola Currie
GLEEDS GIRL hasn’t been without issues this season, a fact reflected in this being only the filly’s fourth start, but following wind surgery she put in a much more promising display here at the end of last month. That frame finish behind multiple scorer The Blue Bower indicates the selection is on the way back, a point that has also been emphasised by the quality of her work ahead of this sprint handicap.
Race 4: No7 – BULLFINCH (Nap)
Trainer: Roger Charlton – Jockey: Jason Watson
Three-year-old BULLFINCH is an upwardly mobile contender for this featured Foundation Stakes and all set to extend his winning sequence to four. The Kodiac colt has admittedly done all his winning on artificial surfaces at Kempton (twice) and Chelmsford, but he’s shown real authority to suggest he’s a fair bit better than a handicapper. If maintaining his progression he should have too many guns for Mythical Magic.

KEMPTON PARK

Race 1: No2 – CARIBOU
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: Charles Bishop
If able to overcome his poor draw on the outer, CARIBOU can endorse the promise of his Bath debut when second of 14 to Soldier Lions. The Adaay colt has the best form of those that have already run, and having excelled in his work at home needs respecting.
Race 3: No7 – THUNDER SUN (Each Way)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Ryan Moore
THUNDER SUN made much of the running before going out like a light on debut at Sandown. The Siyouni colt had shown ability before that disappointing first effort when finishing last to Etonian, and after being given time to get over it is now ready to show his true worth. He is drawn on the rail, meaning that his jockey is again likely to go forward to obtain a handy early position.
Race 8: No2 – LORDSBRIDGE BOY (Nap)
Trainer: Dean Ivory – Jockey: George Downing
Downing has a good record on LORDSBRIDGE BOY, riding him to a single success and two thirds in only four outings since racing resumed. The Equiano gelding showed tenacity to sneak home at Salisbury last time and can go in again from his new mark.
REDCAR

Race 3: No2 – GREAT KING (Nap)
Trainer: Roger Varian – Jockey: Rossa Ryan
Shamardal colt GREAT KING had shown plenty before his Kempton introduction and was backed accordingly, but after holding every chance managed only third to Lightening Shore. Like many youngsters from this stable he was too green to do himself justice and will be much more the finished article this time.
Race 8: No7 – ARNOLD (Each Way)
Trainer: Anne Duffield – Jockey: Franny Norton
Although not having won for two years, ARNOLD has put in a string of good efforts to show he’s on the cusp of a return to top form. On his last two starts at Newcastle he’s been narrowly denied and can benefit from this switch to turf and a new track.

PERTH

Race 2: No1 – PROPER TICKET (Nap)
Trainer: Fergal O’Brien – Jockey: Liam Harrison
A double penalty makes life a bit harder for PROPER TICKET in her bid to complete a hat-trick, but such was the authority shown by the mare when winning at Southwell that she’s afforded the vote to go in again. Her jumping was a joy to watch in that extended two and a half miler, and she looked good value for her margin of victory over Hotter Than Hell.

Race 4: No5 – TAXMEIFYOUCAN
Trainer: Keith Dalgleish – Jockey: Peter Coleman
TAXMEIFYOUCAN scored on his seasonal reappearance a year ago and now returns from a similar lay off with freshness in his favour. On his first visit to Perth this strong traveller can swoop to conquer in the home straight, and should go off at a value price.
