GOODWOOD
Race 2: No4 – LOOKTOTHERAINBOW
Trainer: Charlie Appleby – Jockey: William Buick
A half-sister to the useful Ribchester, LOOKTOTHERAINBOW was the subject of market support on her Newmarket debut, only to fall short in the race won by Wakening. The greenness that cost her that day has been ironed out, and if she can overcome a hazardous wide draw this prize should be within her capabilities.
Race 3: No2 – GREYSTOKE (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Rob Hornby
Newcomer Dhushan brings a tall home reputation to the table but the greater experience of GREYSTOKE can tip the scales in his favour. The selection made the useful Patient Dream tough it out for victory over seven furlongs at Lingfield and is going to enjoy stretching out to a mile in this interesting maiden.
Race 5: No5 – NUITS ST GEORGES
Trainer: David Menuisier – Jockey: Sean Levey
With two wins and a third from his three starts, this season NUITS ST GEORGES is shaping up into a fine stayer. After rounding off the 2019 campaign with a midfield finish in the Cesarewitch, he’s started favourite on each visit to the course this year, scoring at Sandown and Newmarket. He showed a liking for this course when winning here last June, and has plenty going for him as he targets another shot at the second leg of the autumn double.
Race 7: No4 – GALAHAD THREEPWOOD (Each Way)
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: Tom Marquand
With three near misses to his name, John Locke sets the standard for the others to aim at, but if there’s one that could figure at a chunky price it’s GALAHAD THREEPWOOD, who has shaped with promise in his homework. The son of Nathaniel is out of a Danehill mare, a pedigree which lends itself to him handling easy conditions that are set to prevail through the autumn.
CATTERICK
Race 1: No9 – TWILIGHT HEIR (Nap)
Trainer: Michael Bell – Jockey: Cieren Fallon
Former Irish based TWILIGHT HEIR was turned over as an odds-on favourite on debut for his new trainer at Bath, but his form is the best on offer in this novice. Unless there’s something lurking amidst the newcomers he should open his account.
Race 9: No7 – DANCE KING
Trainer: Tim Easterby – Jockey: Miss E Easterby
DANCE KING came good on the third run back at Ripon over the bank holiday, winning with a good amount in hand under the same pilot that’s on his back today. If turning up in similar mood off his revised mark the veteran could prove hard to beat.
NEWCASTLE
Race 6: No9 – SAMOOT (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Dane O’Neill
Dubawi filly SAMOOT was friendless in the market on her debut at Sandown but shaped with a deal of promise to post a frame finish behind Creative Flair. She’s shown in her subsequent work that she’s greatly benefitted from that experience and looks a worthy favourite for this fillies’ maiden.
Race 7: No8 – AYO PATSY
Trainer: Iain Jardine – Jockey: Andrew Mullen
AYO PATSY’s second in a Newmarket seller is decent form to take into this nursery, backed up by the fact she has subsequently changed stables. Her trainer does well with new recruits to his stable, suggesting she can be competitive.
NEWTON ABBOT
Race 1: No2 – EYE OF AN EAGLE (Each Way)
Trainer: Tom Lawes – Jockey: Tom Cannon
EYE OF AN EAGLE can prove the value option in this novices’ hurdle, having run well on both outings over jumps and sure to be straighter for his third to Shantou Master at Fontwell last month in which he was coming off a 300-day absence. The seven-year-old has endured training issues, but with few miles on the clock has scope for improvement.
Race 2: No3 – HORSE FORCE ONE (Nap)
Trainer: Philip Hobbs – Jockey: Richard Johnson
HORSE FORCE ONE delivered stylishly on his reappearance in a maiden hurdle here at the beginning of the month. He attracted a welter of support and now drops into a selling hurdle. As a lightly-raced nine-year-old from a top stable he is very much the one to beat.
