Neil Morrice brings you all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing coming your way from Wetherby, Wolverhampton and Southwell.
WETHERBY
Race
1 No1 BARRICHELLO
Trainer:
Donald McCain Jr – Jockey: Brian Hughes
The
3222 form figures of BARRICHELLO suggest he might not be the most resolute in a
finish, but the gelding is given one more chance. The key to his winning chance
is a drop back from two and a half miles to the minimum distance on a fair
track on which there can be no excuses.
Race
5 No4 PAY THE PIPER
Trainer:
Ann Hamilton – Jockey: Danny McMenamin
Prolific
winning novice PAY THE PIPER can remain unbeaten under Rules on this first run
in a handicap. He battled hard to deny Castle Rushen at Carlisle, and needs to
be taken seriously.
Race
7 No2 DE LA MAR ROCKETTrainer:
Ben Pauling – Jockey: David Bass
The
race that De LA MAR ROCKET won in decisive fashion at Exeter has been given a
considerable boost. The Fame And Glory gelding made every yard of the running
and is going to be hard to stop as long as he handles this much better ground
under a 7lb penalty.
SOUTHWELL
Race 1 No1 FAUSTINOVICK
Trainer: Colin Tizzard – Jockey: Harry Cobden
FAUSTINOVICK is built to carry a welter burden and can break a frustrating run of seconditis for top connections. He showed three miles round here offers no perils to him last time, and can deservedly go one better.
Race 5 No3 DOCPICKEDME
Trainer: Harry Whittington – Jockey: Daryl Jacob
DOCPICKEDME showed promise on both starts for his trainer back in the autumn when he chased home a subsequent Listed winner at Aintree. The form of his Irish point success has also worked out, while his stable is in much better form than it was.
Race 7 No7 GIVEPEACEACHANCE (Each Way)
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: Daryl Jacob
GIVEPEACEACHANCE can put in an earning run in a highly competitive nightcap. The Declaration Of War mare is better than her bare form figures indicated and her chance will be enhanced if she consents to settle in behind the leaders.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 4 No5 GALAHAD THREEPWOOD
Trainer: Mick Channon – Jockey: David Probert
The progressive GALAHAD THREEPWOOD can complete a hat-trick as he steps up the class ladder. This is a much stronger race than either of his recent successes at Lingfield but the Nathaniel gelding could only deliver in style and could still be ahead of his new mark.
Race 7 No1 CARMENERE
Trainer: Denis Coakley – Jockey: Charles Bishop
While having to give away weight all round, CARMENERE still has an alluring profile on what is a first run in a handicap. The Dawn Approach filly has improved from race to race in three all-weather maidens as well as showing a liking for this track.
