Race 1 No1 ZABEEL ROAD (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Joe Fanning
The Johnstons have habitually unveiled some of their better juveniles at this venue which makes the well-related newcomer ZABEEL ROAD of some interest. The Invincible Spirit colt goes to post with good vibes behind him out of Middleham and can outgun four rivals who have the advantage of a previous run.
Race 2 No5 KITBAG (Each Way)
Trainer: Linda Perratt – Jockey: Tommie Jakes
KITBAG hasn’t shown much since switching location to a local yard but is probably capable of better than he’s shown. Carded to go off the outsider in the field, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he upped his game to trouble the judge.
WINDSOR
Race 4 No6 MORE THUNDER (Nap)
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote
The most interesting horse in action today is MORE THUNDER. In the colours of the stable’s Derby hero Desert Crown the son of Night Of Thunder will run green, but he’s shown sufficient promise in his preparatory work to suggest he can have a say in things.
Race 6 No10 PIQUE
Trainer: James Fanshawe – Jockey: Callum Shepherd
On a first run in a handicap, PIQUE is definitely worth a market check. The Nathaniel filly will almost certainly improve from what she’s achieved so far, and has plenty of room for progressives in this for a trainer who excels with horses of her ilk.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race 1 No1 DOUBLETALK (Nap)
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Billy Loughnane
Night Of Thunder filly DOUBLETALK can spark a good night for his Middleman handler in a race she can dominate. There looked to be no fluke about her 14-1 triumph at Chelmsford, and as that was only her third run on the all-weather there should be more to come.
Race 4 No5 JACK OF CLUBS
Trainer: Michael Dods – Jockey: Phil Dennis
JACK OF CLUBS recorded his last win at this venue, and should be fine turned for a repeat after taking away a cheque on his return to action at Thirsk. He’s one of the better bets on a tricky card.
Race 6 No1 FOX FLAME
Trainer: Charlie Johnston – Jockey: Cieren Fallon
FOX FLAME has won at a higher grade this year but looked fully in his comfort zone when an authoritative winner at Chelmsford earlier in the month. If turning up in similar mood he can make it back-to-back successes.
