BRIGHTON
Race 2 No6 CARIBBEAN WIND (Nap)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Charles Bishop
CARIBBEAN WIND was easy to back on her Wolverhampton introduction but made a race of it with a well-supported newcomer. The daughter of Bated Breath has learned plenty from that experience and can foil paper favourite Apeeling in what looks a two-horse-only affair.
Race 5 No6 ELFORLEATHER (Each Way)
Trainer: Jack Channon – Jockey: Edward Greatrex
ELFORLEATHER underwhelmed as a short-priced favourite at Lingfield but that race came too soon after his pleasing first run back at Wolverhampton. The gelding needs to be given the chance to bounce back, and can do so with the benefit of a jockey that has ridden him in recent work at home.
YARMOUTH
Race 3 No9 RED PIXIE
Trainer: Sir Michael Stoute – Jockey: Richard Kingscote
Kingman filly RED PIXIE is among just a handful in this field of maiden fillies that’s already visited a racecourse. For that, she claimed a minor cheque at Kempton last autumn, and having had time to develop into her frame she can now put to good use the ability that’s seen her work well ahead of her return to action.
Race 4 No1 ALMAQAM (Each Way)
Trainer: Ed Walker – Jockey: Saffie Osborne
Lope De Vega colt ALMAQAM will appreciate any cut in the ground for this second career start for the newly formed Walker/Osborne partnership. The selection was not given a hard time when fourth to Feigning Madness on his Newmarket introduction, and just needs to make normal progress to give At Vemeiro plenty to think about.
Race 6 No2 RAJINDRI
Trainer: Tim Clover – Jockey: Oisin Murphy
Although she finds no hiding place from the assessor, RAJINDRI could prove the answer to a competitive fillies’ handicap. The selection is making just a fifth outing on turf, but interestingly was a winner over the course and distance last July before going on to score at Kempton. Even when finishing last in a Class3 at Glorious Goodwood she was only beaten four and a half lengths, and this Class4 brings her back into her comfort zone.
NOTTINGHAM
Race 4 No2 DORA MILAJE
Trainer: David O’Meara – Jockey: Danny Tudhope
DORA MILAJE lost her unbeaten record when third on handicap bow at Newmarket last July but there was no disgrace in that defeat. She looks to have been found a perfect opportunity to regain the winning thread in this numerically weakly contested affair.
Race 6 No1 ARDBRACCAN (Nap)
Trainer: Mick Appleby – Jockey: Frederick Larson
ARDBRACCAN is up 6lb for her impressive course and distance triumph last week and will surely be hard to stop granted the win has fuelled her confidence levels, and that this race has cut up dramatically in her favour.
CATTERICK BRIDGE
Race 4 No5 HIGH OPINION
Trainer: Bryan Smart – Jockey: Andrew Breslin
HIGH OPINION has improved from race to race in three outings this year. A gelded son of his trainer’s Coventry Stakes winner Hellvelyn, he chased home Mehmo at Nottingham and now returns to a course where he’s run well on each of three visits.
Race 5 No5 BOWMAN (Each Way)
Trainer: Danny Brooke – Jockey: Jack Garritty
BOWMAN could be one to upset the apple cart in this low-grade sprint. Something needs to change for him to win it, but the benefit of a breathing operation since his latest run will certainly help.
