Race 5
HARLEM BLUES is a 2yr old colt taking on older horses, but he has only had the two runs to date and should still be improving. He drops back from six furlongs of his last outing when fourth, 3.2L behind the winner. He has drawn wide in gate ten, but he still looks to be the value in the race. ROYAL EXPECTATIONS is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she showed marked improvement when dropping down from 1300M last time out and if she improves further with another drop in distance, she could be a danger to the top pick. ARTWORKS returns from an 18-week rest and has not had the benefit of a barrier trial. If not too much in need of the outing, he could be involved in the finish here. I FEEL FINE is a 2yr old filly who has only had the one run. She would have learnt from the experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she could be a factor, despite have to negotiate a twelve draw.

Race 6
A filly and a mare look like they could fight out the finish here and complete the exacta, with the top choice going to ELDERFLOWER. She finished third last time out over five furlongs, but did win over this trip three runs back and will get 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice. BETTER TOGETHER has consistent formlines to her credit and finished just one length behind the winner last time out over this trip when returning from a 30-week break. She could be an immediate threat to the former. FUNDING returns from an 18-week rest, but he is seldom too far off the action and will get an even greater 3kgs taken off his back for the services of his claiming apprentice. KODAKHAN finished second last time out over five furlongs when he returned from a 24-week break. He is drawn the widest of them all which won’t make his task easy, but he should nevertheless still be considered in this line-up.

Race 7
SEVEN CASTLES has his first run since a 19-week break and has not had a barrier trial, so his fitness will have to be taken on trust. He followed up his penultimate win over 1100M with a second-place finish over the same trip next time out. He jumps from a hand five draw and looks to be the one to side with here. MIDSHIPS was a comfortable two and a half-length winner when recording his maiden victory last time out over 1100M. He is drawn one outside the top choice and the pair could finish as close together when they hit the finishing post. CHOICE HARVEST returns from a 13-week rest and has also not had the benefit of a barrier trial. He drops back in distance after winning his latest outing over seven furlongs, but he gets the blinkers removed for today’s run and will have a 3kg apprentice in the irons. He should be included in all bets. SOUTHERN NATIVE on the other hand will have the blinkers re-fitted for today’s outing. His last two efforts have been encouraging, the latest of which was over this trip and he should be considered.

Race 8
This looks to be a tricky contest and some caution is advised. The narrow top pick goes to FRENCH SUCCESS who is a 4yr old filly taking on boys. She finished well when ending up seventh over 1300M last time out, only 1.5L behind the victor. She is drawn at gate three and should be right up there in the dash down to the wire. THE PUGILIST returns from a 24-week rest and no barrier trial, but he stayed on when finishing second last time out over 1538M. He is drawn one outside the top selection and should enjoy the drop in trip. ROCK’N’ROLLROCK was only beaten in the shadow of the post when also finishing second in his last outing, but in this case, over seven furlongs. He gets to start from draw two and could pose a big threat to the top two selections. RUNBRO was making steady late progress when finishing fourth in his last outing over 1500M and should have no issue with the drop in trip.

Race 9
RADICAL is seldom far off the winner and finished fourth last up over a mile. He is drawn in gate four and whist taking a drop in distance, he should be chasing down the frontrunners in the latter stages of the race. VIVA ACHEEVA finished fifth last time out, also over the mile. He is drawn sixteen out of eighteen, but he is likely to be dropped out of the race early and be doing his best work in the closing stages. LOVE VENUS finished second last time out over seven furlongs despite being friendless in the betting markets. He was just a head back that day and if he is able to reproduce that effort here, he should be one for the shortlist. GINA LOLA is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she has a liking for the synthetic surface and could rival the top three selections.
