Neil Morrice: UK Best Bets – Monday 25 January 2021

Neil Morrice:

Neil Morrice brings you all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing coming your way from Plumpton, Chelmsford City, and Kempton Park.

PLUMPTON

Race 1 No9 AHORSEWITHNONAME (Nap)

Trainer: Nicky Henderson – Jockey: Nico de Boinville

Multiple bumper and Flat scorer AHORSEWITHNONAME created a favourable impression when second to Pink Sheets on debut over jumps at Newbury and figures to progress from that in a cracking opener. The Cacique mare hadn’t run for well over a year and can take full advantage of her sex allowance against Natural History.

Race 6 No7 SAWPIT SIENNA

Trainer: Sam Drinkwater – Jockey: Robbie Dunne

SAWPIT SIENNA started not lower than 109-1 in her four hurdles for a previous trainer but has made great strides since her switch to the Drinkwater stable, opening her account in first time tongue strap and cheek pieces at Fakenham before chasing home Kestrel Valley at Wincanton before Christmas. The Dylan Thomas mare is in the zone to add this weakly-contested race to her laurels.

CHELMSFORD CITY

Race 1 No4 BARRINGTON

Trainer: Mike Appleby – Jockey: Alistair Rawlinson

The blinkered BARRINGTON is weighted to post a big earning run from a plum draw and make this a second success for his locally-based trainer. Initial high hopes for the Casamento gelding have not been realised, but having run well 8n each of his last three starts he can deservedly come good.

Race 3 No9 WORD OF HONOUR

Trainer: Sean Curran – Jockey: Grace McEntee

While not the most straightforward of rides, WORD OF HONOUR has made gradual improvement in his career and especially since being equipped with blinkers. He makes a first step away from Wolverhampton in eight starts and first visit to this course which can prove a winning one, having been a shade unlucky not to deliver last time.

Race 7 No5 DECORA (Nap)

Trainer: Sheena West – Jockey: George Bass

Conduit mare DECORA shaped encouragingly on debut for West when narrowly beaten at Lingfield. She’s a long-standing maiden but can go 9ne better if everything drops right under a rider that knows her well.

Race 3 No4 JEFFREY HARRIS

Trainer: Paul Webber – Jockey: Ben Curtis

On debut for this stable and from a good draw two off the rail, JEFFREY HARRIS can put his best for forward. The six-year-old is having a first outing in almost a year and first on Polytrack, but as a dual scorer on Tapeta should be right at home.

Race 4 No10 MEHMO

Trainer: Mike Appleby – Jockey: Ben Curtis

Curtis looks a likely significant booking for MEHMO in this sprint handicap round a bend. The combination have a good draw from which to target the leaders in the home straight, with this six furlongs more suitable for the selection than the five over which he finished well at Lingfield last time.

Race 7 No7 MORLAIX (Nap)

Trainer: David Simcock – Jockey: Jamie Spencer

The lightly-raced MORLAIX makes abundant appeal on handicap debut after placing on return from 14 months off at Chelmsford. He faces strong competition from recent scorer Love Destiny who could find a penalty anchoring him at the business end.
