Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips for Monday’s racing coming your way from Ayr, Fakenham, Kempton Park and Wolverhampton.
AYR
Race
1 No1 CASTLE RUSHEN
Trainer:
Nicky Richards – Jockey: Brian Hughes
Fearless
will be a popular choice for the opener but the penalised CASTLE RUSHEN knows
how to win and appeals as a better value option. A bumper winner at this course
in the New Year, he landed some good bets on hurdles debut on a return to the
track on Halloween, and is considered one of the better young novices from
Greystoke.
Race
2 No19 UNOHU
Trainer:
Tom Lacey – Jockey: Jonathan Burke
UNOHU
has run well in all four career starts for his connections, landing a Newcastle
bumper on debut, finishing placed in his other two bumper outings last season
and returning to chase home Shakem Up’arry at Ffos Las. The latter wasn’t
disgraced in a valuable handicap next time, and gives Unohu the ammo to make a
big impact in a weaker contest
Race
3 No1 O’HANRAHAN BRIDGE (Nap)
Trainer:
Donald McCain – Jockey: Brian Hughes
While
it took an eternity for O’HANRAHAN BRIDGE to open his account, having done so
stylishly at Carlisle he’s now in a position to consolidate. Consistent jumpers
that finally break a run of ‘seconditis’ can thrive with tha5 monkey off their
backs, and the same can prove true with this hugely reliable performer.
FAKENHAM
Race
4 No3 STRICTLYADANCER (Nap)
Trainer:
Christian Williams – Jockey: Jack Tudor
Prolific
scorer STRICTLYADANCER seeks to complete a hat-trick, and with his proven
liking for this tight track is going to prove hard to stop. He showed benefit
from the fitting of cheek pieces to gain a second success at the Norfolk venue
in a selling chase in January but judging from his smooth comeback triumph at
Exeter is better than he was then.
Race
5 No8 THE CINCINNATI KID
Trainer:
Alan King – Jockey: Tom Cannon
THE
CINCINNATI KID stayed well on the Flat to end the season on a winning light
with near misses at Wolverhampton followed by a snug success at Chelmsford. He
was always going to be of interest to a big jumping yard, and has found his way
to one of the best in the business with regard to juvenile hurdlers. This is a
warm looking heat, but he should not be underestimated.
KEMPTON
PARK
Race
2 No7 RIVER CHORUS (Nap)
Trainer:
James Tate – Jockey: PJ McDonald
Mehmas
filly RIVER CHORUS has shown ability in both outings this autumn and is now
ready to strike. She found only the useful Famille Rose her superior over this
course and distance and is well berthed to go one better today.
Race
4 No3 CAMPEO
Trainer:
David Simcock – Jockey: Jamie Spencer
From
a good draw one off the fence CAMPEO has sound claims to better his encouraging
first effort at Newcastle, when beaten by the more experienced Crossford. The
Acclamation colt hails from a stable that’s doing well with its winter team on
the all-weather, and looks worth following.
WOLVERHAMPTON
Race
2 No10 DECONSO (Each Way)
Trainer:
Chris Kellet – Jockey: Rob Hornby
From
the rail DECONSO will require luck in running, but the Dandy Man gelding showed
improved form in cheek pieces to trouble the judge at Chelmsford last time and
is now back on the kind of mark from which he could add to his three career
victories at the Dunstall Park track.
Race
7 No6 ELMETTO (Nap)
Trainer:
Hughie Morrison – Jockey: Ryan Moore
ELMETTO
has appeared late on the stage in each of her two seasons’ racing, and on each
occasion went down by inches at Kempton. With her liking for the all-weather
there for all to see she can endorse the promise shown when beaten a short head
by Desert Flyer last time and put her head in front.
