Neil Morrice: UK Racing Tips - Thursday 4 July 2019

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from Thursday’s racing at Haydock, Newbury, Epsom and Yarmouth.

Haydock Best Bets

Race 5: DAL HORRISGLE (3)
Trainer: William Haggas
Jockey: James Doyle

There was much to like about the way DAL HOSSISGLE duked it out to defy a penalty in novice company at Nottingham. While beating a couple of subsequent winners at the Colwick Park venue he is certain on pedigree to appreciate this longer trip and he comes over as a horse worth following.

Race 6: JUST MY TYPE (2)
Trainer: Roger Varian
Jockey: Andrea Atzeni

Posting a fine placed effort to hunt up subsequent winner NEON SEA on her reappearance at Goodwood, JUST MY TYPE is an ideal candidate to do well in handicaps. She has few miles on the clock and that frame finish was easily the best she’s achieved in her four career starts. Her connections can look forward to notable progression here.

Newbury Best Bets

Race 7: MANDOCELLO (6)
Trainer: Rod Millman
Jockey: Oisin Murphy

Millman did a good job in getting MANDOCELLO handicapped as on his first venture in such company he won with a bit in hand at Windsor. The booking of Murphy takes the eye and with that initial win under his belt he’s in a place to consolidate. Furthermore, none of the others go into battle with their tails up, and my selection looks sure to improve.

Epsom Best Bets

Race 2: INDIAN CREAK (4)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: Pay Dobbs

INDIAN CREAK didn’t get the best of runs when third at Lingfield and can be considered unlucky. He was then denied a penalty kick when Chepstow was abandoned and is strongly fancied to deliver as the move to seven furlongs is just what he wants.

Race 6: HACKBRIDGE (4)
Trainer: Pat Phelan
Jockey: Paddy Bradley

Paying the price for running well yet getting beaten has been a thorn in the side of HACKBRIDGE who has climbed up the weights but so unlucky was he not to prevail at Windsor last time that he should be persevered with. If his pilot can get the timing right he should be hard to beat in this.

Yarmouth Best Bets

Race 3: AKWAAN (5)
Trainer: Simon Crisford
Jockey: Dane O’Neill

AKWAAN needs to prove that he can handle these quicker conditions but the recent Newmarket scorer hails from a yard that is running into form and looks an improved. He needs to step up in this move into a Class 4 but his profile suggests that’s entirely possible.

Race 7: BANKSY’S ART (5)
Trainer: Mick Channon
Jockey: George Bass

Local trainer Potters Lady Jane sets the standard for the others to aim at but BANKSY’S ART has the armoury to beat her as well as good assistance from the saddle. The selection got going when the bird had already flown at Newbury last time but it was a pleasing run, while he breezed beautifully in his final stretch on Monday.
