Race 2: RAINBOWINTHESKY(11)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS
RAINBOWINTHESKY had two promising attempts on this track in Spring and she would have strengthened during her 17-week absence. She possibly found five furlongs too sharp for her when staying on for 2nd behind subsequent winner Vision To Kill last time and will prefer this extra furlong. The daughter of Muhtafal should continue to progress and she is a huge contender for this in-form combination.
Race 3: MIDNIGHT MAN(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Mike MILLER
MIDNIGHT MAN was slightly disappointing from his wide draw at Greyville last time but should be an entirely different proposition from gate 1 today. He has track experience and will be a huge contender if reproducing his penultimate run. The form of his last start has worked out well & he is the yard’s only entrant on the card.
Race 4: ROY’S WINTER PAT(3)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Yogas GOVENDER
WYNKELDER has been thrust into the deep end in his first post maiden start but the Kahal gelding won his debut in impressive fashion and he could be equal to the task at hand. Of course, he produced a smart finish to win that contest in a big field over six furlongs in December and clearly has lots more improvement to come. Interestingly, that formline worked out exceptionally well and this three-year-old chestnut should love today’s extra furlong. He will be guided by top jockey Delpech from a good draw in his first venture around the turn. The older guard will severely test his resolve at the weights and ROY’S WINTER PATCH jumps out of the page after he showed signs of a form return at this level, nine days ago. He was running on late over six furlongs but will definitely enjoy this extra furlong. The slight worry is that blinkers remain on the Western Winter gelding who is the mount of Marcus. The five-year-old gelding is best weighted in this field.

Race 8: MODESTY(1)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS
It could pay to follow the progress of Tropical Blow in the prior event as the top rating here, MODESTY ran on to finish runner-up behind that rival over seven furlongs at Greyville, three weeks ago. The fast improving daughter of Dynasty has finally cracked a good draw and that should make all the difference. She should continue to progress and will love the step-up to the mile.
