TOP BET
Race 2: TWILIGHT TRIP(13)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER – Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

The well-related TWILIGHT TRIP had an eye-catching debut over this c & d on the last day of December and he should build on that. The Trippi gelding ran on well for 4th on that occasion and the runner-up Cossack Guard was beaten by the 3rd placed entrant Bobby Dazzler subsequently to boost the formline.

Race 5: COME ON SONNY(3)
Jockey: Robert KHATHI – Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

The Pride Rock formline over this c & d on 06/01 could dominate the outcome of this event and COME ON SONNY The Pride Rock formline over this c & d on 06/01 could dominate the outcome of this event and COME ON SONNY represents decent each/way value. The chestnut gelding was poorly drawn when he ran on late to finish just out of the money in the above-mentioned contest but he should be a different proposition from a midfield barrier position today. He has just over one length to find on the runner-up MTOROSHANGA but the latter’s poor stallgate opens the door slightly for the top selection. Still, the Ashaawes colt has shown smart ability and will be heavily involved in the finish. He is the yard’s solitary representative on the day.

Race 6: CANDID(8)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

This is a very competitive handicap where an exciting finish is expected. The improving three-year-old CANDID benefitted from blinkers when he stayed on for 2nd behind another of his generation in the form of Copper Force (runner-up in a feature since) over this c & d earlier this year. He conceded 1kg to his conqueror and purely on a line through that, has the beating of the four-year-old, SHALL BE FREE, who only beat Copper Force by three parts of a length when receiving 4kgs from the ‘young gun’ on 06/12. The top selection is progressive and could certainly be worth following. He will enjoy the likely strong gallop.

Race 8: SILVER WILLOW(2)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

The three-year-old grey filly SILVER WILLOW has finally ended a horrible run of poor draws and she should make it count today. She has improved steadily with experience and had two decent post maiden runs, the latest clearly being very impressive when running on for 5th in a listed handicap over ten furlongs on this course last month. She has shown her versatility and meets her previous conqueror BIG BANG THEORY on 2kgs better terms for a 1.80 lengths c & d defeat. The form of her last start was boos- ted when the 3rd placed finisher Nima went down a short head in a competitive field on Met Day.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 4: BAFFERT(4)

Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

This is an intriguing marathon event for maidens as most of the principle contenders try this distance for the first time in their careers. The lightly raced grey gelding BAFFERT was extremely disappointing over seven furlongs recently but he is the half-brother to former classy stayer Winning Leap and should make heaps of progress over this extra ground. The Visionaire gelding could enjoy being equipped with blinkers.
