RACE 1
RESOLUTE has only been beaten by a half a length in his last two outings. He is well-drawn and with Teetan in the saddle, should take a power of beating in this opening contest. HAPPY TANGO stayed on nicely last time at Happy Valley. He is yet to win a race but has the credentials to be involved in the finish. MIGHTY POWER is drawn wide but he wasn’t disgraced in his last start and warrants respect. He returns from a short break and if fit and well then he can make his presence felt.
RACE 2
CHARITY GO was beaten by a nose in the shadow of the post last time by ASSIMILATE. He is 1kg better off at the weights which could be enough to turn the tables. TIANCHI MONSTER has finished in the money in his last four starts. He was narrowly beaten last time and will be looking to make amends.
RACE 3
SOUTHERN LEGEND will likely make the most of Golden Sixty’s absence in this contest. He is the class horse in the race, is well drawn and should take a power of beating. KA YING STAR finished right behind the top selection last time. The pair face each other on the same weight terms and there shouldn’t be much separating the pair in the run down to the line. BUDDIES shows good early toe and is much better than his last two outings. He faces a tough assignment but can run into the money.
RACE 4
FAST PACE moved up like a winner last time and was only outrun in the closing stages. He shoulders top weight in this contest but can get back to winning ways. EXALTATION has finished runner-up in his last three outings. He is yet to win a race but on form, looks the obvious danger. The South African-bred EZRA has placed in his last two outings. He gets Moreira in the saddle and he may be able to coax a little extra out of him where it matters most.
RACE 5
MASTER HERO won his last start in fine style and the manner in which he quickened suggests there is another win in the tank. He is well-drawn and can make it back-to-back wins. CHARITY GRACE finished a neck behind the top selection last time. He is 1.5kgs better off at the weights which may be enough to turn the tables. SAM’S LOVE finished three lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights and should finish closer as a result.
RACE 6
LUCKY FUN steps out for an in form trainer and is in search of a hat-trick of wins. He won his only attempt on this course and will be looking to keep that record intact. ALL FOR SOUTH wasn’t disgraced last time out despite a below par effort. If he can bounce back to his best then he should be right there at the business end. UTOPIA LIFE found a form return last time and actually finished in front of the second selection. He is well-drawn and if confirming his recent progress, could be upset potential in this contest.
RACE 7
GOLDEN SIXTY has won 15/16 starts. He is an incredible sort and arguably Hong Kong’s best thoroughbred at the moment. He narrowly beat Southern Legend who runs in a Race 3 and the form of that race could confirm his best bet status. EXULTANT has found one better in his last four starts. His record is ultra-consistent and looks an obvious danger in this contest. FURORE finished third in a Grade 3 last time. He may be outclassed at this level but has the potential to run into the money.
RACE 8
WILL POWER represents the class horse in the race. He has recorded all five victories on this course and despite giving weight to the rest of the field, merits healthy respect. ENCORE BOY finished runner-up last time. He will benefit from a 1kg apprentice and can pose a threat to the top selection. RED DESERT finished 2.75 lengths behind the second selection last time. He is 2.5kgs better off at the weights, which brings him right into this contest.
RACE 9
EXCELLENT PROPOSAL is coming off an impressive Grade 1 victory. He is a four-time winner on this course and should be cherry-ripe having his third run after a rest. LUCKY EXPRESS and TOURBILLON DIAMOND weren’t far behind the top selection last time. They all meet each other on the same weight terms and another exciting finish is expected.
RACE 10
PRIME MINISTER made vast progress last time under Leung. He was nabbed in the shadow of the post and that was his best career effort in Hong Kong. If repeating that run then he definitely represents decent each-way value in the lucky last. FLAGSHIP GLORY was only beaten just over a length in his local debut. He will strip a much fitter horse and it will be no surprise to see him in the winner’s enclosure. KA YING EXCELLENT wasn’t disgraced last time. If overcoming his wide draw without using up too much energy then he can run into the money.
