KENNEDY REGAINS THE ASCENDENCY

Warren Kennedy moved to the top of the leaderboard in the Hollywoodbets KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge after riding four winners at Hollywoodbets Scottsville yesterday.

Kennedy opened the meeting in emphatic fashion by riding a treble. His first two wins came when riding for the Gavin van Zyl stable aboard Greenlighttoheaven and Miss Marmalade. He then went to win the third with Katie’s Treasure for the Paul Lafferty stable and completed his foursome in the seventh with Mai Tai for the Wayne Badenhorst stable.

Those four wins and a few places in other races saw Kennedy accumulate 80 points and move to 834.5points, by doing so opening up a 17 point gap to Anton Marcus back in second.

Marcus didn’t have a winner yesterday but still managed to accumulate 54 points with many places.
In the trainers log Paul Lafferty whittled down Garth Puller’s lead, as he saddled a treble and accumulated 50 points from his six runners to take his total to 582.5 points. Lafferty managed to move within 14 points of leading trainer Garth Puller. Puller, who only brought two runners to the course, accumulated 12 points.

The trainers and jockeys log looks all but certain to be fought out by the top two, but in the horse’s log anything can still occur. With horses that are close to the top carded to run this weekend, the log is certain to change again, and with the constant changes it will very exciting to watch as the competition goes into its last month.

The next meeting for Hollywoodbets KZN Sizzling Summer Challenge sees racing head to Hollywoodbets Greyville for the first night racing meeting of the New Year.
