NAMIB DESERT is the best bet on the day. He produced an eye-catching debut effort over this C&D. He lost a length at the start, but challenged strongly all the way to the line. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Silvano would have come on with the experience under his belt and with the natural progression that is expected, he should take a power of beating.

ANYTHING GOES is a Grade 1 winner and is unbeaten from five starts to date. She was ultra-impressive when winning her last start in the Joburg Spring Challenge against older rivals. The daughter of Var returns from a 13-week break this afternoon. She is loaded with ability and should keep her unbeaten record intact.
Race 6: CATCH TWENTYTWO (1)
Jockey: G Lerena – Trainer: P Peter
CATCH TWENTYTWO was super-impressive when winning the Grade 2 WSB Dingaans last time. Despite hanging from the 200m mark, he drew clear with ease. The drop back to the seven furlongs should not pose a concern for the son of Elusive Fort and from his good draw of four, he should follow up.
Race 9: MAPLE SUGAR (13)
Jockey: G Lerena – Trainer: S Tarry
MAPLE SUGAR is much better than her last start suggests as she was reported to be not striding out. Her debut effort when finishing second over 1200m catches the eye. The daughter of Ideal World should be at home over today’s distance. She does not have the best barrier position, but Gavin Lerena knows her well and he should give her all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

CERTIFIABLE ran a decent race over 1400m on this course last time. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. He is suited to the drop in distance and will be staying on strongly in the run down to the line.
