PACK LEADER was very unlucky not to have won his last start, as a horse carried him all the way to the outside rail at the 1500m mark. The manner in which he finished off his race that day caught the eye. He is having his second run after rest this afternoon and should strip much fitter. He is the best weighted runner here and should take a power of beating.

SUMMER PUDDING is unbeaten in seven starts to date and was South Africa’s Horse of the year in the 2019/2020 season. The daughter of Silvano returns from a well-deserved 19-week break today. This is her prep run for the Grade 1 WSB Gauteng Summer Cup, but she is the class horse and should keep her unbeaten record intact.
Race 8: COPPER MOUNTAIN (7)
Jockey: Lerena G – Trainer: Janse van Vuur
COPPER MOUNTAIN is lightly raced with top form to his credit. He was reported to be not striding out last time which makes the effort that much more encouraging. He takes a rise in class today, but looks to have plenty of scope and may be up to the task at hand.

Jockey: Khumalo S – Trainer: Azzie M
CAPTAIN OF TORTUGA has run two good races since returning from a 13-week break. He has finished second twice and third twice from seven starts over this distance. He should be cherry-ripe this afternoon and with S’manga Khumalo back in the saddle, he should be the one to beat.
