Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: COLD CASH(2)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER

COLD CASH
has improved rapidly with each outing and she fought back doggedly when going down narrowly over a mile on this course, three weeks ago. She was beaten by a smart newcomer that day but was in turn just over seven lengths in front of the next placed entrant. The daughter of Bankable should continue to progress and will take a power of beating over this extra furlong. She has her peak run and is drawn best of all.

Race 3: POLLY WOLLY DOODLE(3)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Candice DAWSON

POLLY WOLLY DOODLE has bounced right back to her best form in recent outings and she still seems ahead of the handicapper despite another two-pound hike. She was outrun late into 2nd by a smart sort over a similar trip at the Vaal recently and the 3rd placed finisher Kirkconnel Lass boosted the formline with a subsequent win. This bay mare is track suited and she should go close from the best draw.

Race 4: EMPRESS VALLEY(10)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA – Trainer: Johan JANSE VAN VUUREN

EMPRESS VALLEY
made the expected improvement when she was outrun late into 2nd over six furlongs in male company last month. That formline has worked out extremely well, with her conqueror placing at handicap level and the 3rd placed entrant Flemington winning comfortably next time out. This New Zeal- and import has an awkward draw to overcome but she will love every bit of this extra distance and clearly has plenty more to offer. Interestingly, she faces her own sex for the first time in her short career.

Race 9: SOLDAT(3)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Brian WIID

There are some decent form contenders in this competitive final event but SOLDAT probably has the most scope over today’s extra distance & he could go really close despite his wide draw. The Sarge gelding has caught the eye from day one and he has progressed steadily from there. He was possibly the best finisher over six furlongs on this track recently and should overturn the short head defeat to MESS. The Brian Wiid inmate could be one worth following, particularly on the standside course.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: FAVOUR’S PRIDE(4)

Jockey: Fanie CHAMBERS – Trainer: Corne SPIES

The speedy FAVOUR’S PRIDE has moderate recent form in stronger company but she has come down appreciably in the merit ratings and could represent excellent each/way value in this competitive line-up. The bay filly has a fair track record, with the highlight being her good 2nd to the classy DAME ELEANOR over 1450m in yielding conditions on 22/10 and she is now a whopping 9.5kgs better off with that rival. The shorter trip will certainly favour the inmate from the Spies yard who is drawn in midfield.
