UK Racing Best Bets – Friday 20 September 2019

Jockey rides horse

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets and tips from UK Racing at Newbury, Ayr and Newcastle on Friday 20 September.

Newbury Best Bets

Race 2: RIVER NYMPH (7)
Trainer: Clive Cox Jockey: Adam Kirby

RIVER NYMPH started one of the roughies on his debut at Salisbury but surpassed that by getting into the money behind Lost In Time. He showed signs of greenness and lost ground leaving the stalls, but from three out made a charge that took him to three and a half lengths off the winner.

Race 7: DALANIJUJO (6)
Trainer: Mick ChannonJockey: David Probert

By his high standards Channon doesn’t have an obvious star amongst the juvenile section of his stock but DALANIJUJO could be better than this and ran better than her finishing position suggests in a Group 3 at Newmarket last time. A gutsy scorer on her Doncaster debut, the chestnut has worked consistently well and won her gallop on the summer ground on Tuesday. She has talent and can up her game.

Newcastle Best Bets

Race 3: ISLAND STORM (3)
Trainer: Heather Main Jockey: Luke Morris

As the most experienced runner in this juvenile heat, ISLAND STORM should be ready to put his best foot forward. He’s shown ability on each of his career starts but his latest offering, when a staying on third of 8 to Bronze River at Kempton, was given a major boost when the runner up went one better at Thirsk.

Race 4: MARVEL (1)
Trainer: Julie CamachoJockey: H Shaw

This looks a gilt-edged opportunity for MARVEL to,live up to his name. He’s rattled the crossbar on each of his last three starts including when grabbed in the final strides by Buniann over this course and distance last time. This strong traveller has nothing to fear from anything on the book, and if repeating to a level he’s shown thus far, should open his account.

Ayr Best Bets

Race 1: El NASERI (6)
Trainer: Michael Dods  Jockey: Paul Mulrennan

Having belied his odds when second at 20-1 to Plymouth Rock on his debut at Thirsk, EL NASERI looks to be in a good place to go one better. Off a hold-up ride he finished with great gusto and is going to know a lot more about what’s required as he takes on a number of juveniles with similar form to their names.

Race 2: ONE HART (5)
Trainer: Mark Johnston
Jockey: Joe Fanning

In a wickedly competitive handicap, ONE HART brings a nice blend of turf and all-weather form to the table and should give a good account. Having given Endowed plenty to think about on Polytrack at Kempton, the selection can find the necessary improvement to repel the likes of Owney Madden and Byline, who’ve been running in Pattern company.

Race 5: PENDLETON (6)
Trainer: Michael Dods
Jockey: Callum Shepherd

If a high draw is the place to be then PENDLETON is in the perfect spot for another earning run. In stall 25 of 25 runners, the ultra-consistent performer can better his latest effort at York when beating everything bar Poulson Scar.
