Wolverhampton Best Bets
Race 2: SOUND MIXER (5)
Trainer: William Haggas
Jockey: Georgia Cox
SOUND MIXER should relish moving up the distance spectrum for this handicap following two near misses. She went down fighting in a photo beh8nd Royal Redemption at Newcastle after losing valuable ground at the start. She’s not quite a winner without a penalty but she has a good draw and can have no excuses with cheekpieces also fitted.
Race 3: DOUBLE KODIAC (2)
Trainer: Simon Crisford
Jockey: Jack Mitchell
A fascinating runner in that he had some winn8ng form in France, DOUBLE KODIAC is the subject of good reports from Newmarket and can show himself to be ready to fire on his first start since last summer. He’s competed in better races, while his trainer has his all-weather team in excellent order.
Race 4: DORKING COCK (2)
Trainer: Tom Lacey
Jockey: Stan Sheppard
Now that he’s got his head in front, DORKING COCK is worth following in handicap and this could be his for the taking. The 6yo didn’t look straightforward in early novice hurdles but when landing some good bets at Chepstow was always in control. A winner at this track last season, he’s been freshened up in the weeks since that triumph and will be hard to beat.
Race 6: BEAU GESTE (5)
Trainer: Tony Carroll
Jockey: Hollie Doyle
Course and distance scorer BEAU GESTE followed that up with a near-miss at Kempton and now that the penny has dropped looks to have a good chance of going one better. He spent most of last year on the sidelines but is certainly making up for lost time.
