UK Racing Tips – Thursday 2 January 2020

UK Racing Tips - Thursday 26 December 2019

Neil Morrice brings us all of his best bets for Thursday’s racing at Ayr, Lingfield and Chelmsford City.

Ayr Best Bets

Race 1: MAROWN (7)
Trainer: Nicky Richards – Jockey: Brian Hughes

One of the nicest prospects at Greystoke, MAROWN can make a winning debut over jumps in this maiden hurdle. He ran green and only got going in the closing stages on his introduction in a Newcastle bumper, but to his credit he flew when the penny dropped, to score going away. He’s schooled well and should prove hard to beat.

Race 4: UN GUET APENS (3)
Trainer: James Ewart – Jockey: Brian Hughes

The blinkered UN GUET APENS is proven at this track and although age is catching up with him probably has another tune in him. He was easy to back when reappearing at Hexham but displayed plenty of enthusiasm before lack of condition took its toll in the home straight. That run should have put the edge on him and he can get into the money granted normal improvement.

Race 6: OH NO (5)
Trainer: Maurice Barnes – Jockey: Ross Chapman

Having been given plenty of time to get over his premature exit at Carlisle, OH NO is of considerable interest as he looked to be going great guns at the po8nt he ran out. Admittedly there was a circuit still to run, but he had jumped well and was fully in command. He started 28-1 and may again be ignored in the market.

Lingfield Best Bets

Race 2: RIVER DAWN (5)
Trainer: Paul Cole – Jockey: Ben Curtis

For a horse that likes to get on with things, RIVER DAWN has plenty in his favour as he steps up the distance ladder. Since undergoing a wind operation he scored over seven furlongs on turf and though out of the money over that trip here last time he was hampered leaving the stalls and couldn’t build up a big enough lead. Over a mile this time has the rail from which to attack.

Race 5: DREAMING AWAY (4)
Trainer: Roger Charlton – Jockey: Hollie Doyle

Having changed stables since narrowly beaten at Doncaster in May, DREAMING AWAY has a great chance to open her account on this debut for Charlton. She is well clear on the ratings, and can use this as a springboard to better things.

Chelmsford City Best Bet

Race 6: FIGHTING TEMERAIRE (6)
Trainer: Dean Ivory – Jockey: Martin Dwyer

FIGHTING TEMERAIRE conjured up a fine turn of foot to score over seven furlongs in this grade here three weeks ago. Now a 7yo, his distance spectrum is widening and it’s easy to see why his trainer now steps him up to a mile. He’s getting weight from his five opponents and has a good chance of following up.
