NEWTON ABBOT

Race 2 – TREVADA 9/4

TREVADA was second on his first run back from a break and off the same mark, he must go close in this handicap chase at Newton Abbot. Trained by Oliver Sherwood, the seven-year-old was having his first run over fences at Plumpton so is entitled to be sharper, too.

HAMILTON

Race 3 – YASSER 4/1

YASSER appears to have been given a real chance by the assessor ahead of this handicap event at Hamilton. Jim Goldie’s charge only ran a week ago but he hinted at a return to form and if that is followed up, then he looks well-treated.

A real moneyspinner for connections, he was very busy last summer but thrived for his racing. He ran 15 times in all last year, winning four events, including a valuable pot on a Racing League night at Doncaster. His mark peaked at 85, yet his first win just over a year ago came from a basement mark of 52, showing the progress he made. Before his third last time out at Ayr, he had disappointed this season, but back down to a rating of 71, his turn is surely not far away.

Race 4 – WHERE’S JEFF 9/4

Shane Gray appears to get a good tune out of Mick and David Easterby’s WHERE’S JEFF and he can follow up a recent win when he runs in the fourth at Hamilton today. The eight-year-old was beaten a head on his seasonal reappearance at Beverley before winning last time out at Hamilton. He returns to the Scottish venue off just 2lb higher and is still rated some way below his highest-ever winning mark.

BEVERLEY

Race 4 – MAN OF A’AN 15/10

MAN OF A’AN stepped up markedly on his debut when last seen to suggest he may win this restricted maiden stakes event at Beverley today.

The Highland Reel gelding finished sixth of 14 on his first run at Kempton, beaten just over five lengths. Sent to Redcar for his next outing, he just failed to reel in Kentucky Bluegrass over seven furlongs, looking to know much more about the game. The winner is now rated 76 and the third 75, so if Man Of A’An can run to somewhere around that mark, he should take all the beating.

Race 5 – CROWN PRINCESS 4/1

Ollie Pears’ CROWN PRINCESS should be more at home on quicker conditions in this handicap. His two runs this season have come with cut in the ground and while not disgraced, it is surprising she has been dropped only 1lb for each. She is on the verge of being very well treated now, though, and could go well at a price.

WARWICK

Race 4 – EVERYONESGAME 83/100

Charlie Longsdon’s EVERYONESGAME is conceding weight all round in this novice hurdle at Warwick but that is for good reason. He has a win under rules to his name already and sets the standard with a rating of 120.
