Just seven runners head to post for this competitive handicap and with little separating them on form, this should be a close affair. FUTURE FANTASTIC disappointed over a mile behind MOVIE AWARD recently but she is 1.5kgs better off with her conqueror now and can reduce that 2.75 lengths deficit. She went close behind ALLEGORICAL (3kgs worse off) over last meeting’s c & d in her penultimate outing and Strydom could get the best out of the Lateral mare. She can make amends here.

There’s just nine representatives in the day’s topliner but with a few in-form runners present, an exciting and close finish is expected. LIEGE had a decent three-year-old campaign which culminated with a smart Grade 3 victory in the Jubilee Handicap over nine furlongs in June. The well-related son of Dynasty proved to be just off the best of his generation but he could still have a bright four-year-old campaign. His conditioner is obviously using this run as a prep for the Spring but the Tarry inmate has the class to go close in this field. He will be partnered by top jockey Strydom.

Race 7: HIDDEN AGENDA(1)
Jockey: G LERENA – Trainer: S KENNY
HIDDEN AGENDA is a smart handicapper who is still improving. He was rewarded for consistency when he ran on well to beat a quality field over slightly further at this track recently and could still be ahead of the handicapper despite the resultant three pound penalty. He has proven himself down the straight and should go close in this field.
Race 8: SWEET CHESTNUT(1)
This is a most interesting final event which pits some ordinary four-year olds against their improving younger counterparts. The weights do favour the former though and SWEET CHESTNUT gets the nod to emerge victorious at the tenth time of asking. Gavin Lerena’s ride has shown enough form to warrant huge consideration in this field, even though the daughter of Horse Chestnut still has to convince she is effective over the mile. The likely sedate gallop could play into her hands and her jockey placed on her previously.

PIED PIPERESS failed to see out nine furlongs in her poor last effort but she will prefer today’s drop in distance. She had an improved penultimate performance over this c & d and interestingly her last victory came under this 1.5kgs claiming apprentice. The chestnut mare dictated terms en route to an effortless victory over male rivals that day and she could be a force here.
