Winning Form backs Kennedy to break record!

Winning Form is thrilled to announce it is the proud new sponsor of KZN-based jockey, Warren Kennedy. The 39-year-old Hillcrest resident is attracting a lot of attention this year in his bid to claim his maiden National Jockey Championship title. Kennedy is currently sitting on 155 winners for the season, but aims to hit the milestone of 300 come July 31st. The hope is, should he eclipse this mark before the season ends, he will attempt to break the current record of 334 winners that was set by the legendary Anthony Delpech in the 1998/1999 season.

Kennedy has shown remarkable growth in the jockey ranks over the past few years. During the 2014/2015 season he ranked at 28th place on the log, while by the end of the 2018/2019 season he achieved a very respectable 7th place. With six months left of the current 2019/20 season, he sits 45 wins clear of second placed Greg Cheyne in the jockey title race, giving him ample breathing room for his title prospects.

After holding out until he found the right sponsor, Kennedy is happy to be on board with the Winning Form team.

“I am thrilled and proud to be sponsored by a brand like Winning Form that is steeped in racing history. It’s only been a short time being part of the team, but so far it’s been great and everyone has been very helpful and accommodating,” he said.

Winning Form Operations Manager, Sandile Nethisa is eagerly looking forward to following Kennedy this season. “We are proud to be associated with a top-of-the log jockey like Warren. 2019 was a great year for him because he rode his first Grade 1 winner (Gabor, in the Thekwini Stakes on eLan Gold Cup day), and we are confident there are more big performances to come! We just know that 2020 will be an exhilarating year for him and Winning Form is backing him all the way to the National Jockey Championship title!” said Nethisa.
