RICHARD FOURIE

Richard Fourie

Winning Form-sponsored jockey Richard Fourie rode his way into the South African racing history books at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Saturday 8 June when he registered his 335th winner of a remarkable season, that has seen him displace retired champion Anthony Delpech as our winning-most rider of all time in terms of victories in a single racing season. Having ridden his first winner on Groovy Baby for Dennis Bosch at Scottsville on 8 July 2003, Richard’s first Grade 1 winner came as an apprentice when he got the Glen Kotzen-trained Badger’s Gift home to beat Jeff Lloyd and the champion Sun Classique in the TBA Gr1 Paddock Stakes on New Year’s day of 2007.

BRIAN NYAWO

BRIAN NYAWO is a rider who has been with Winning Form for many seasons. His best memory in racing was winning the Grade 1 Harry Oppenheimer Horse Chestnut Stakes aboard Smart Banker in 2009. Brian is currently getting most of his support from trainers Dennis Cason, Alec Laird and Mike de Kock. One horse that sticks out to Brian at the moment is Diorama from the de Kock yard.

COLE DICKEN

COLE DICKEN’s life changed forever the day he visited, the now Hollywoodbets Brand Ambassador, Anthony Delpech’s home. On that particular day he was accompanying his dad who owns a Pinetown-based electrical business on a routine call out. It is believed that he was in awe when first walking into the Delpech home and seeing the number of trophies on display, Anthony’s wife Candice told him that he has the perfect stature to become a jockey. Dicken made a mental note of that comment; and on 8 January 2018, he joined the South African Jockey Academy. Dicken, who is based in Gauteng, has formed good partnerships with various trainers throughout the country. He has ridden in well over 600 races in his career thus far accumulating more than R2 million in stakes as of April 2021.

JABU JACOBS

JABU JACOBS joined the Winning Form family in 2020. The young enthusiastic rider has impressed many trainers and former jockeys in his career thus far and he has formed a formidable partnership with Hollywoodbets Sponsored trainer Peter Muscutt. The pair can often be found in the winner’s enclosure during meetings at Hollywoodbets Greyville and Hollywoodbets Scottsville race days. Jacobs is based in KwaZulu-Natal and has ridden in more than 600 races in his career thus far accumulating more than R2.5 million in stakes as of April 2021.

JEFFREY SYSTER

Rising apprentice and Winning Form-sponsored jockey JEFFREY SYSTER aka ‘JR’ has turned heads in his short time as an apprentice rider. He caught the attention of many pundits when he got up in the dying stages to win on his first ever ride, Kingsmead, at Hollywoodbets Scottsville. The young apprentice has a bright future, as he is rapidly losing his weight allowance and is fast approaching the ranks of being a fully-fledged jock. He is proud to be part of the Winning Form team and is certainly a talent to keep tabs on.

KABELO MATSUNYANE

KABELO MATSUNYANE lost his apprentice Claim at the end of 2019 after winning his 60th race on Double Deluxe at Flamingo Park. Matsunyane rides at Turffontein, the Vaal and Flamingo Park Matsunyane rides at Turffontein, the Vaal and Flamingo Park. With the support of reigning Champion trainer Sean Tarry, he gets along with horses such as Mombela and Big Myth. “It’s great to be associated with a top brand like Winning Form, it’s great for my career,” said Matsunyane. The highlight of his career so far came in the 2023 Hollywoodbets Durban July as he piloted home Winchester Mansion in the big race.

ROBERT KHATHI

ROBERT KHATHI became a Winning Form-sponsored jockey in 2016. His huge smile is often seen in the Western Cape, as he has found continued support from the tremendous Justin Snaith stable. The start of this year has unfortunately been marred by injury, but the Umlazi-born jockey has been able to reap the benefits of spending time with family and is glad to be back in the saddle. He impressed on a number of rides most notably when winning aboard the Snaith-trained trio of Anderson, Horatius and Nexus.

SERINO MOODLEY

SERINO MOODLEY joined the Winning Form family in early 2020. Before joining the South African Jockey Academy, he did show jumping and lived close to James Maree’s farm. He saw horses training and decided to go watch. As the saying goes, the rest is history. He did leave the academy on his own accord and decided to get experience by riding in workriders races and race riding in Zimbabwe, before re-joining the academy to finish his apprenticeship. His biggest memory in racing is winning aboard the Kom Naidoo-trained Run Rhino Run by 21.25 lengths at Hollywoodbets Greyville. He is currently getting a lot of support from trainers Michael ‘Muis’ Roberts and Lezeanne Forbes. Moodley pointed out that Sofia Erin, who he won on first time out, from the Forbes stable is a horse that will be worth following in the future.

XOLANI ‘Charles’ NDLOVU

Port Elizabeth-based jockey XOLANI “Charles” NDLOVU’s best season was the 2019-2020 season accumulating 33 winners. His previous best, in the 2017/2018 season, saw 21 wins. In the 2018/2019 season, he sustained an injury and was out of riding for three months. His boss, Alan Greeff has been faithful to him and gives him many chances in the ‘Windy City’. He has had much success this season including winning the Listed Jockey Club Stakes and the Walmer Handicap at Fairview Racecourse aboard Meryl.
