Race 5.

EASTERN GLOW finished second on debut over six furlongs and then made the expected improvement to win over the same sprint trip at the second time, albeit by just a short-head. He raced three wide without cover that day, but then delivered a powerful finish to grab the leaders in the shadow of the post and the form of that race has been franked. Notwithstanding a wideish draw eight, he is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

ILZOOMYA finished third last time out over six furlongs, just over five and a half lengths behind the winner when returning from a 23 week break, but he only saw daylight at the 250M mark that day before finishing his race off well. The form of that contest has also been franked and from gate five, he could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice.

ZO PURRFECT has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three runs, the latest when fifth over 1300M, 3.3L adrift of the victor. He finished strongly from some way back that day and if his jockey can have him in a handier position today and from draw four, he should be involved in the finish.

Race 6.

Two 3yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the nod for top spot goes to PRIVATISATION who won her maiden race last time out over five furlongs by 0.8L, despite hanging out over the final 50M. She has her peak run after returning from a 27 week break, gets a handy draw three and will have ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham back in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

PER IVY has only had the three runs to date, winning first time out over five furlongs and then finishing third last time out over 1100M, three and a half lengths behind the winner, but she overraced in the early stages that day and had to be steadied off the heels of other runners at the 600M mark, but still managed to stay on well over the closing stages. She returns from a 26 week spell, but has finished fourth in both of her barrier trials to prove her well-being. From gate six, she should be right up there when they hit the line.

APPLE CUBED is a 2yr old colt taking on older horses, but he put four lengths between himself and the opposition when winning his maiden race last time out over five lengths. He showed plenty of toe in that contest and from one gate outside the latter, he is likely to adopt similar tactics today.

Race 7.

Three 3yr old fillies could secure the trifecta here, but the day’s value bet, I LOVE LUCY could show the field the way home. She is a speedy sort who won her last start over five furlongs by 1.3L and has her peak run after returning from an 18 week rest. She is drawn the widest of them all in gate nine, but on the plus side, she will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

PRINCESS SPICE has finished second in two of her last three outings, the latest when getting beaten a head over five furlongs. She raced up with the leaders, but three wide that day and then spoilt her winning chances by hanging in over the final 100M. She also has her peak run after returning from a longer 25 week absence and from draw five, she should keep the top pick honest.

AMAZING NICCI is seldom far off the action, finishing fourth last time out over 1100M, 3.2L behind the winner. She jumped awkwardly that day and found herself towards the back of the field, but she did finish well over the latter stages of the contest. She is drawn one inside the latter and should not be lightly dismissed.

Race 8.

There are four unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether any of the connection believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners FERRARI MAN may prove to be the best. He is a 2yr old gelding taking on older horses, but he has consistent formlines to his name, finishing fourth last time out over six furlongs, 2.3L back from the winner when trying to go from jump to wire. That was also at a stronger center and he was rested for 17 weeks after that showing. He returns here after having put in two encouraging barrier trials and although drawn wideish in gate eight, he looks to be the one to side with here.

A 4yr old and a 3yr old filly could chase him home, with the slight preference going to AUREUS ANGEL who had to be held up on the home turn and then hung out down the home straight before ending up in sixth place last time out over 1300M, 3.8L adrift of the victor. She returns from a longer 34 week spell, but she has had the two barrier trials, finishing fourth in the latest. She will have to negotiate draw ten, but she should make her presence felt in this line-up.

MRS GLOOP is drawn one inside the latter and had finished third in her first two runs prior to disappointing last time out, ending up eighth when stepping up to 1300M, 9.3L back from the winner, but she did come four wide into the home stretch that day costing herself valuable ground. She returns from a 22 week rest, but has had three barrier trials, winning the lates and should be included in all bets.
