Race 4

KINGDOM OF LOGRES is a three-time winner from eight starts, the latest victory coming over ten furlongs by two lengths, despite being bumped shortly after the start. He struck the front at the 250M mark to win going away that day and the form of that race has been franked. He gets a handy draw three and will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

He renews his rivalry with FINAL RESET who finished seventh time out in the same race mentioned above, five and a half lengths back from the top pick, but he was bumped at the start and came the widest of them all into the home straight. The gelding has pulled gate seven and is 3kgs better off than the top choice, but whilst this should bring them closer together, it may not be enough to have that result reversed.

HEROMANIA has cracked pole position and was slow away, finding himself in second last place before finishing well to end up in third place last time out over a mile, just over two lengths back from the winner. On that effort, he should appreciate the extra ground on offer here to be involved in the finish.

Race 5

There are three unraced runners in the field, so as is always the case in these types of races, a keen eye should be kept on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether any of the connections believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for a runner or runners should be respected. Of the raced runners, ZAMBEZI RIVER may well prove to be the best. He jumped awkwardly, bumping another runner, but recovered quickly to pick up the lead, only to be run out of it late to finish second last time out over five furlongs, 2.3L off the winner. He was returning from a 56-week spell that day and would have come on further with that run under his belt and the fact that his connections have brought him back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that he still has something more to offer them. The gelding will have to negotiate a wideish gate eight, but will have ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham in the irons, so will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Two 3-year-old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to SHE’S ALL IT who has only had two runs to date, finishing third on debut over 1100M and then showing the expected improvement to end up in second place next time out over five furlongs, 0.8L behind the winner, but she did jump awkwardly in that event and raced green until the 600M pole, before coming wide into the home stretch. She returns from a 21-week break, but has finished third in her only barrier trial. From her kinder draw three, she should be right up there when they hit the wire.

DE LUCA was crowded at the start, but finished well to end up in third spot first time out over 900M, just a half-length back from the victor. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, as well as the extra distance here, she should be included in all bets, jumping from gate seven.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, POINT OUT went from jump to wire to win his maiden race last time out over six furlongs by a head, at the fourth time of asking. He is drawn the widest of them all in gate ten, but he is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today and could prove difficult to collar over the closing stages.

RUSH ATTACK had his consistency rewarded with a one-length victory last time out over 1500M. He showed plenty of toe that day and hung in down the home straight, but held off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. The gelding returns from a 21-week break, but has had two barrier trials, finishing fourth in the latest. He jumps from gate six and will have 1.5kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

STEELY GIRL is a 3-year-old filly taking on boys, but she won her maiden race last time out over 1300M by putting 2.3L between herself and the opposition and the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. She has pulled a cosy draw three and will be having her peak run after returning from a 23-week spell.

Race 7

AUNTY GINNY won by 2.8L on debut over five furlongs, kicking clear of the field at the top of the home straight to record a comfortable victory and was immediately rested for 21 weeks. She returns here without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust, but the form of that race has been franked and she gets a useful draw four and may well be too good for this line-up.

ZIPITALIST won over 1050M three runs back, finished fourth in her penultimate start over five furlongs in heavy going and then fourth again in his latest outing over five furlongs, two and a half lengths behind the winner, but she did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight that day. The filly faces a wideish gate eight, but with better luck in running, she should keep the top pick honest.

PROPHET TIME is seldom far off the action, finishing fourth last time out over five furlongs, just over two lengths back from the winner, but she lost a length at the start, before finishing off her race well. She has a useful draw two and could complete the trifecta.
