Race 4

Two 4yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s value bet, ARANCIONE is taken to lead the field home. She did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight before finishing well to end up in fifth spot last time out over 1500M, 4.7L behind the winner. Her form prior to that was solid and with her having her peak run after returning from a 40-week spell and from a handy draw two, she could prove hard to topple.

HOTLIPS HOULIHAN raced three wide throughout but stayed on well to finish third last time out over 1500M, three and a half lengths behind the winner. She too has a cozy gate four and should be right up there when they hit the line.

QUIZY also raced three wide throughout before making good late progress to finish fourth in his latest outing over 1500M, just under four and a half lengths adrift of the victor. He is drawn one outside the latter and should be included in all bets. There is an unraced runner in the field, so keep an eye on the betting markets to get some indication as to whether his connections believe that they can win first time out. Any betting support for him should be respected.

Race 5

As with the previous race, there are several unraced runners in this contest, so the same comment in respect of keeping an eye on the betting moves applies here as well. SATIN AND SILK is a 2yr old filly taking on the boys and older horses, but she has only had two runs to date, finishing second last time out over 900M, 1.7L back from the winner. She showed plenty of toe that day and was only run out of it late. She returns from a 17-week break but has had the two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and fourth in the latest. She will have to negotiate gate nine, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much gas.

NOVEMBER RHYTHM has consistent form lines to his name and jumped awkwardly, but raced up with the leaders when finishing fourth last time out over 900M, two lengths back from the winner. The gelding gets a useful gate four and should keep the top choice honest.

EXPLOSIVE TORPIDO is a 3yr old filly who makes her debut after putting in three encouraging barrier trials, finishing fourth in the first and then second in the next two. She will have to deal with a wide draw eleven, but she won’t need to be a superstar to win in this company.

Race 6

HELLO JACK goes for his hat-trick after two victories over six furlongs, the latest when putting nearly four and a half lengths between himself and the opposition. He went from jump to wire that day and whilst hanging in down the home straight, the result was never in doubt. The form of that race has also stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. The gelding will have to negotiate gate eleven, but nevertheless, he is likely to attempt similar tactics today and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

SHAME FOR FAME is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has won two of her last three starts, the latest over seven furlongs by two and a half lengths. She went from gun to tape that day and from pole position, she could turn out to be the biggest danger to the top pick.

TROOPER KNUCKLE has consistent form lines to his name and followed up his penultimate run victory over 1500M with a sixth-place finish next time out when stepping up to a mile, 4.7L back from the winner. He has a wideish draw eight, but he should be doing his best work late to be involved in the finish.

Race 7

As with the first two legs of the day’s Jackpot, there are several unraced runners in this contest, so the same comment in respect of keeping an eye on the betting moves applies here as well. KIRIBATI is a 2yr old colt taking on older horses, but he has only had two runs to date, finishing fourth first time out over five furlongs and then showing plenty of speed to finish fourth again next time out over 1100M, one and a half lengths behind the winner. He will have to deal with a wide gate twelve, but he would have come on further with that run under his belt and could be the one that they all have to beat.

Two 3yr old fillies could chase him home, with DOLLY BIRD being the slight preference. She stayed on well when seventh last time out over 1100M, 2.7L behind the winner, suggesting that she should enjoy the extra ground on offer here. She gets a kinder draw five and will be having her peak run after returning from a 17-week break.

SINGLE ATTRACTION is the stable companion to the latter and finished well from some way back to end up in sixth place when making her debut over five furlongs, two lengths back from the victor. She would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, she makes a solid back-up for the yard.
