Race 4

VIS I DO had his consistency rewarded with his maiden victory last time out over seven furlongs by a half-length. He found himself towards the rear of the field that day and had to come wide into the home straight, but he delivered a powerful finish to collar the leaders just short of the line. The gelding gets a handy draw three and whilst taking on stronger here, he may well be up to the task at hand.

VAIN RICH has cracked pole position and is seldom far off the action, finishing third last time out over seven furlongs, just under two and a half lengths back from the winner. He sat just behind the leaders and then made good late progress over the closing stages and seems likely to turn in another solid performance today.

UNTOUCHABLE ED lost two lengths at the start when finishing eleventh last time out over six furlongs, 3.2L back from the winner when having his first run for his new trainer and the form of that race has been franked. He jumps from gate six and will have 2kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

Race 5

SPARKS followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a sixth-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, just over one and a half lengths back from the winner. He showed plenty of toe that day and was only run out of it late. From his useful draw three and with him having 3kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice, he will be hoping to chalk up his fifth career win.

Two 5yr old mares could chase him home, with the slight preference going to THE AFFIRMATIVE who won over this distance three runs back, finished fourth in her penultimate start over five furlongs and then stayed on well to end up in second place in her latest outing over five furlongs, one and then a half lengths back from the winner. She jumps from one gate outside the top choice and should be right up there when they hit the line.

LADY TULESSA was a tad disappointing when finishing eighth last time out over six furlongs, 4.2L adrift of the victor and was immediately rested for 22 weeks. She returns here without having had the benefit of a barrier trial, so her fitness will have to be taken on trust, but notwithstanding a wide draw nine, she will be looking to bounce back to her better form and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

LOST MEDIA finished second in his last two runs, the latest when getting beaten a short-head over six furlongs, but he had to be held up at the 600M mark that day and came three wide into the home stretch, so can be considered an unlucky loser. He has his first run for his new trainer and if fully settled into his new surroundings, he should give a good account of himself here. The gelding is sure to put his pole position to good use and is made the best bet on the day’s card to give jockey Ashley Morgan a double in the day’s Jackpot, should the top choice win the first leg.

Two 3yr old fillies could complete the trifecta, with VILLA TREVILLE being the preference. She has only had two runs to date, finishing sixth on debut over five furlongs and then showing the expected improvement when going from jump to wire to win her next start over five furlongs by three lengths. She has pulled gate six and is likely to attempt similar tactics today to emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

CANNOLI was returning from a 14-week rest and a change of trainer when finishing fifth in her latest outing over five furlongs, 1.7L behind the winner. She is drawn one inside the latter and will have the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, CASSIA LANE is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys and although recorded as finishing ninth last time out over six furlongs, she was just over three and a half lengths off the winner. She stayed on well in that contest and the combination of pole position and having 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice could make her hard to topple.

BEAN ROCKING drifted outwards on entering the home straight, but nevertheless battled all the way down to the wire to win his last start over seven furlongs by a head. He will have to negotiate a wide draw nine, but he could be good enough to chalk up a quick double.

ASSIDUITY was having his first run for his new trainer when jumping awkwardly to finishing seventh last time out over 1100M, just over five and a half lengths behind the winner. He would have come on further with that run under his belt and although drawn wide in gate twelve, the blinkers are removed for the first time and if this move has the desired effect, he should be a big runner here.
