Race 5

TERRA MATER is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with a half-length victory last time out over six furlongs. She raced just behind the leaders that day and then accelerated smartly to run down the leaders just short of the winning post. She jumps from gate seven and looks to be the one to side with here.

DONEGAL LIGHTS has finished second in three of his last four starts and was slow away and hung in down the home straight when 1.3L behind the winner last time out over seven furlongs. From his handy draw three, he should turn in another honest performance today.

GORSHIN has consistent formlines to his name and tried to go from jump to wire before ending up in second place in his latest outing over 1700M, 0.7L back from the victor and the form of that race has stood up well with three runners out of that contest subsequently winning. The gelding is drawn one inside the latter and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, I AM BRAZEN is a 4yr filly taking on males, but she followed up her penultimate run victory over 1100M with a third place finish next time out over the same c&d, just under two lengths back from the winner and was immediately rested for 24 weeks. She returns here after winning her only barrier trial and from gate six, she could prove hard to topple.

AKAKA FALLS showed marked improvement to win his last start over 900M by 1.7L, considering that he was slow away and hampered at the 300M mark, but he finished strongly to win going away and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding has a wideish draw eight, but nevertheless, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

MEOD is a 3yr old filly who has won two of her six starts to date and battled all the way down to the wire to win her last start over five furlongs by a head. She has a kinder gate two and will have ex-SA jockey Keagan Latham in the irons, so she will get all the necessary assistance from the saddle.

Race 7

PREFER TO SMILE is a 3yr old filly taking on boys, but she won her last start over a mile by nearly two lengths, despite losing a length at the start and having to be held up on the home turn. She finished off her race well and, on that effort, she should enjoy the extra ground on offer here. She will have to negotiate draw ten, but she still looks to be the one that they all have to beat.

AKAHATA finished second in his penultimate outing over a mile and then disappointed when fourteenth next time out over the same journey, just under seven and a half lengths adrift of the victor, but he was trapped three wide without cover in that event, so that effort is best ignored. The gelding has a useful gate three and should keep the top choice honest.

GIGANTIC is seldom far off the action, finishing third last time out over a mile, 1.3L back from the winner, but he found himself some way off the pace that day, forcing him to come the widest of them all into the home straight, but he still managed to finish strongly over the closing stages. He faces a wide draw fourteen, but given his style of racing, he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

Race 8

EAU DE VIE is a 3yr old filly taking on males, but she won over ten furlongs three runs back, finished six in her penultimate start over the same journey in heavy going and then third in her latest outing over 1300M, just a length behind the winner at this track. She stayed on well that day and from draw six and with Keagan Latham up, she is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

DECIMUS won his maiden race last time out over a mile by 1.3L. He struck the front at the top of the home straight that day and then fought off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire. The form of that race has been franked and whilst drawn wide in gate nine, he should not be lightly dismissed.

TWO AYE is another 3yr old filly in the race. She also won her maiden race last time out, but in her case over 1500M, putting three and a half lengths between herself and the opposition. That was only her third start and the form of that race has been franked. She faces a wide draw fourteen, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.
