Race 5

Two 3-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but ZARROSE is taken to lead the field home. She was hampered at the start when finishing sixth last time out over 1500M, 2.2L behind the winner. The filly will have to negotiate a wideish draw eight, but she gets a set of blinkers re-fitted for the day’s run and if this move has the desired effect, she should be a big runner here.

GLOBAL PIVOT tried to go from jump to wire when ending up in tenth place last time out over a mile, 5.3L back from the victor. She has her peak run after returning from a 22-week break and from a wider draw eleven, she is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today and could prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages.

AIMPOINT has posted two solid last runs and hit the front at the 200M mark from some way back and was only collared late to finish second in his latest outing over a mile, just 0.8L off the winner. The gelding gets a kinder draw four and will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

Race 6

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. BROADWAY BOUNCER showed solid improvement when finishing second last time out over 1100M, beaten just a head. He was crowded at the start, but stayed on well over the latter stages and whilst drawn wideish in gate eight, on the plus side, he will get 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

ROCKIN’ MILLIE is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she had her consistency rewarded with her maiden victory last time out over five furlongs, by 1.8L at only the fourth time of asking. It should be noted that she was bumped at the start, but recovered quickly to pick up the lead and then held off the chasing pack in the dash down to the line. She was also returning from a 28-week break that day and from gate six, she should be right up there when they hit the line. The filly has also had a subsequent barrier trial.

SOOBOOCO was bumped at the start when finishing seventh last time out over six furlongs, just under four lengths adrift of the winner. He returns from a 13-week rest, but has finished third in his only barrier trial and although drawn wide in gate thirteen, he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much energy.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, NATURAL DEDUCTION won over a mile three runs back, finished fourth in his penultimate start over nine furlongs and then third in his latest outing over 1500M, 1.2L behind the winner, this after coming three wide into the home straight. He struck the front at the 300M mark and was only grabbed late. That was his first run after a 17-week spell, and he should have come on further with the run under his belt.

LA VESUVIUS also won three runs back, but in his case over 1500M, finished a disappointing eleventh in his penultimate start over nine furlongs and was immediately rested for 27 weeks. The gelding finished fifth on his return over seven furlongs, 6.7L adrift of the victor, but he was slow away that day and then come the widest of them all into the home straight. The form of that race has been franked and from gate five and with him having 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice, he will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

JACOB’S TIME is drawn one inside the latter and made good late progress when finishing fifth in his latest outing over 1500M, 3.8L behind the winner, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to his liking.

Race 8

KHUMBILA had finished second and third before winning his maiden race last time out over 1300M by 1.8L. He showed plenty of toe that day and won with a bit in hand. The gelding has pulled a useful draw six and whilst taking on stronger here, he may well be up to the task at hand and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

AUDREY’S LANE is a 3-year-old filly taking on males, but she has only had two runs to date, winning them both over 1300M, the latest by a neck, notwithstanding racing wide throughout and coming four wide into the home stretch. She faces a wide draw thirteen, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much gas.

DIABELLI is seldom far off the action, finishing fifth last time out over 1300M, two and a half lengths back from the winner, when returning from a 22-week break. He had to be steadied at the 1000M pole, but stayed on well over the latter stages and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding is drawn wide, one outside the latter, but should still be involved in the finish.
