Race 5

Two 3-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the exacta, but the day’s best bet, BOAMBEE BEACH is taken to lead the field home. She has won two of her last four starts and went jump to wire to win the latest over 1100M by 0.8L. She gets draw five and is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today to prove difficult to reel in over the closing stages.

CALL ME SUPER won over five furlongs three runs back, finished fourth in her penultimate start over the same sprint trip and then fifth in her latest outing over the same journey, 1.8L behind the winner, but she was hampered at the start and raced three wide without cover, before coming the widest of them all into the home straight, so she had her excuses. She has a wideish gate eight, but on the plus side she will have 1.5kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice and could prove to be the biggest danger to the top pick.

SPEEDY TARGET went from gun to tape to win his last start over five furlongs by 1.3L. He is drawn one outside the latter, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much gas to be involved in the finish.

Race 6

I STOLE IT has cracked pole position and raced three wide throughout and had to be eased at the 100M mark when finishing tenth in his latest outing over 1110M, 6.3L adrift of the victor. That was at a stronger centre, but the form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning.

RUM REVOLUTION is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she was hampered at the start and raced wide without cover and understandably had little to offer over the latter stages when ending up in fifth place last time out over six furlongs, just over three lengths off the winner. She jumps from gate six and should be right up there when they hit the line.

CHASE THE SUN stayed on well when finishing third last time out over 1100M, 2.3L back from the winner and on that effort, he should appreciate the extra ground on offer here. The geldings useful draw two will do him no harm.

Race 7

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. The tentative top pick goes to BONCASSIE who is a 5-year-old mare taking on males and who tried to go from jump to wire when ending up in third place last time out over six furlongs, four and a half lengths behind the winner. She was only run out of it late that day and from a cosy draw four and with 2kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice, she could be the one to side with in this line-up.

LJUNGBERG sat just behind the leaders and then stayed on well to finish fourth last time out over six furlongs, 4.8L back from the victor. The gelding jumps from gate six and should keep the top pick honest.

LION CLASS has finished closer to the winner in each of his last three starts, the latest when fourth over six furlongs, just over a half-length behind the winner, but he raced three wide in that event and four wide into the home stretch, before making good late progress in the dash down to the line. The form of that race has been franked and despite a wideish draw eight, he should be included in all bets.

Race 8

The day’s value bet, GLOBAL SENSATION has finished second in his last two starts, the latest over seven furlongs, 1.3L behind the winner. He raced three wide without cover on that occasion and looked a possible winner when striking the front at the 200m pole, only to be run out of it late. The gelding jumps from a handy draw three and will be having his peak run after returning from a 26-week break and will be hoping to go one better today.

FIRE UP BRUCE was hampered at the start and forced to race four wide without cover when ending up in eighth spot last time out over six furlongs, just under seven and a half lengths behind the winner. The gelding faces a wide draw thirteen, but he should use his early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

PROUD WITH PRIDE is a 4-year-old filly taking on boys, but she has posted two solid last runs and was slow away, but stayed on well when finishing seventh in her latest start over seven furlongs, 3.2L back from the winner. She is drawn one inside the latter and is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.
