Race 4

MOSGIEL DAISY is a 3-year-old filly taking on the boys, but she was hampered at the start and found herself towards the rear of the field before delivering a powerful finish to win her last start over 1300M by a head, suggesting that the extra ground on offer here will be to her liking. She will have to negotiate a wide draw ten, but she should be doing her best work late and is made the value bet on the day’s card.

BERTIE has consistent form to his name and had to weave his way through traffic in the home straight when winning his maiden race last time out over 1400M, albeit by just a head. He has a handy draw four and although taking on stronger here, he may well be up to the task at hand.

HOTZINO is a 4-year-old filly who has finished closer to the winner in each of her last three starts, the latest when third over 1200M, 2.3L behind the winner, when having her first outing for her new trainer and returning from a 23-week break. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and although drawn wide in gate fourteen, she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

Race 5

SHE’S GOT TEETH is a 3-year-old filly taking on males, but she has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over 1400M with a third-place finish next time out when stepping up to 1600M, just over a half-length back from the winner and the form of that race has been franked. From draw six, she looks to be the one to side with here.

HE’S A COPY BOY shifted in sharply just after the start, but ran on well over the closing stages when showing marked improvement to end up in second place last time out over 1600M, just under a half-length back from the victor. The gelding faces a wideish draw eight, but he will have 4kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

ATACAMA stayed on well when finishing third in his latest start over 1600M, three lengths adrift of the winner and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding is drawn one outside the latter and should be included in all bets.

Race 6

The day’s best bet, SHIHAB tried to go from jump to wire when finishing second last time out over 1400M, just a length off the winner. He faces a wide draw eleven, but he will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and he is likely to attempt similar frontrunning tactics today to prove difficult to reel in over the latter stages.

Two 3-year-old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to LADY SOAMES who was hampered at the start and raced three wide without cover when winning her latest outing over 1200M by a head, so that effort was encouraging. She has pulled gate seven, but gets the service of a 1.5kg claiming apprentice and she could emerge as the biggest danger to the top pick.

SIMPLICITY has solid form to her name, finishing third last time out over 1300M, just under two lengths behind the winner, but that was at a stronger centre. She now has her first run for her new trainer and if fully settled into her new surroundings, she should give a good account of herself here. Notwithstanding a wide gate nine, she should be involved in the finish.

Race 7

A 5-year-old mare and two 3-year-old fillies could fight out the finish to this race and complete the trifecta, but CUPID’S KISS is taken to lead the field home. She has won two of her last three starts and jumped awkwardly, finding herself at the tail of the field, but finished off her race strongly to win her last start over 1000M by 1.3L going away. The mare jumps from draw six and will have 4kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

MONTE CRUISE has cracked pole position and has only had three runs to date, winning her penultimate start over 1000M and then finishing third in her latest start over 1100M, five lengths behind the winner, but she overrace throughout in that event and not surprisingly, she had little to offer in the dash down to the wire. She has her peak run for her new trainer and after returning from a 40-week spell.

FLOSS’S ONE won over 1000M three runs back, finished tenth in her penultimate start over the same c&d and then third in his latest outing, again over the same c&d, 2.8L behind the winner, but it should be noted that she lost three lengths at the start on that occasion. The filly has a useful gate three and gets the services of a 2kg claiming apprentice.
