Race 5

ZOFFANY’S GAZE is a four-time winner from sixteen starts and made a decent improvement to win by 2.3L last time out over today’s journey. He came the widest of them all into the home straight that day but delivered a powerful finish to win going away and the form of that race has been franked. The gelding has a wide draw nine, but on the plus side, he will have 1.5kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice and should be doing his best work late.

NIGHT PATRA posted two solid last runs and made good late progress from some way back to end up in second spot last time out over a mile, 1.8L behind the winner. He jumps from gate six and should be right up there when they hit the line.

BURRANEER BUOY put his disappointing penultimate start over 1500M behind him when finishing fifth next time out over 1500M, but just one and a half lengths back from the winner and that was at a stronger centre. The form of that race has stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning. In addition, the gelding has a handy draw two and will have 1.5kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice.

Race 6

CHESTER LE STREET won over five furlongs on debut, albeit by just a short-head and then disappointed when finishing eighth next time out over five furlongs, just over nine lengths adrift of the victor, when returning from a 27-week rest. That was however in very heavy going, so that effort is best ignored and from draw five, the colt is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

LOVING ANGEL is a 5-year-old mare taking on the boys, but she goes for her hat-trick after two victories over five furlongs, the latest when putting 3.3L between herself and the opposition. She showed plenty of toe that day and although returning from a 41-week spell, she has won her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being.

SUPER FREDS has cracked pole position and was returning from a 17-week rest when finishing sixth last time out over five furlongs at a stronger centre, five lengths behind the winner, but he jumped awkwardly, losing ground and was then disappointed for a run at the 75M mark, so he had his excuses. The gelding gets the services of a 1.5kg claiming apprentice and with better luck in running, he should not be easily overlooked.

Race 7

DEMITASSE jumped awkwardly bumping another runner and then came three wide into the home straight, but stayed on well over the closing stages when finishing second last time out over six furlongs at a stronger centre, 4.8L adrift of the winner. He will have to negotiate a wide draw of twelve, but nevertheless, he looks to be the one to side with in this line-up.

MELODY AGAIN is a 4-year-old filly who followed up her penultimate run victory over seven furlongs with a fifteenth-place finish next time out over six furlongs, just over five and a half lengths back from the winner, but that was also at a stronger centre, and she did race three wide throughout, as well as returning from a 24-week rest. She jumps from gate seven and will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways today.

SUPER EXTREME was returning from a 12-week rest and raced towards the rear of the field, but finished strongly on the outside of the track to win his last start over 1100M in the shadow of the post to record a short-head victory. The gelding has pulled gate five and should be included in all bets.

Race 8

The day’s best bet, KNOW THYSELF was crowded in the early stages and then did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, only seeing daylight at the 100M mark, before finishing well to win by two lengths on debut over six furlongs. He would have learnt from that experience and with the natural improvement that can be expected, he could be the one that they all have to beat, jumping from his useful draw four to give the trainer/jockey combination of P & L Messara & Gavranich and Aaron Bullock the last two legs of the day’s Jackpot.

Two 3-year-old fillies could chase him home, with the slight preference going to HASTY HONEY who won a half-length last time out over a mile despite bumping another runner at the 1200M mark and then suffering interference at the top of the home stretch. She was immediately rested for 20 weeks and returned here after having had the benefit of two barrier trials. The filly will have to deal with a wide draw eleven, but she may prove to be the biggest threat to the top pick.

SABANA finished second on debut over seven furlongs and then made the expected improvement to win by a neck next time out over the same trip. She finished strongly from way back in that contest, so that effort was encouraging and from gate seven, she should be involved in the finish.
