Race 5

THE INSTRUCTOR is a three-time winner from ten starts who finished tenth last time out over six furlongs, 6.2L behind the winner, when returning from a 21-week break and would have come on further with the run under his belt. He is drawn wideish in gate eight, but he will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways in this line-up.

GRACILISTYLA has consistent formlines to his name and was bumped at the start, but battled all the way down to the wire when finishing third last time out over seven furlongs, 0,7L back from the winner. The gelding returns from a 10-week rest, but has had the benefit of a barrier trial.

DAKOTA VROOM is a 4-year-old filly taking on the boys and is the stable companion of the latter who has won twice at this track before, the latest over 1250M three runs back, but was a tad disappointing when finishing tenth last time out over 1300M, 5.7L adrift of the victor, but she was slow away that day. She has had a barrier trial since then and from one gate inside the latter, she makes a solid back-up for the powerful Chris Waller yard.

Race 6

CONFESS OUR DREAMS completed her hat-trick in her first three runs and then finished eighth last time out over 1100M, just under five lengths off the winner in a Listed Race, but she was reported to have suffered from heat stress that day and her jockey put up 0.5kgs overweight, so she had her excuses. She has won a subsequent barrier trial and whilst drawn wideish in gate eight, on the plus side she will have 3kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice.

JEWELLERY won her penultimate start over 1300M and then finished third next time out over the same trip, just under a half-length behind the winner and was immediately rested for 61 weeks. She returns here after having had two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest and the fact that her connections have brought her back into racing after such a lengthy absence would seem to suggest that they believe that she still has something more to offer them. She jumps from a handy draw two and the engaging of champion jockey James McDonald catches the eye.

SPRING LEE won over five furlongs three runs back, finished second in his penultimate start over six furlongs and then third in his latest outing over 1100M, just over two lengths adrift of the winner, but she had to be checked off the heels of another runner at the 800M pole in that event. She has her first run after a shorter 16-week spell, but has had two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest. The filly is drawn the widest of them all in gate seventeen, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without expending too much energy.

Race 7

The day’s value bet, FURY had finished third twice prior to winning his last start over six furlongs by 1.3L. He showed plenty of toe that day and although returning from a 10-week rest, he has had the benefit of a barrier trial and has cracked a low draw three.

PHYSICAL GRAFFITI followed up his penultimate run victory over six furlongs with a fourth-place finish next time out over the same sprint trip, just under two lengths back from the winner, but he had to be steadied off the heels of another runner at the 1000M mark on that occasion. The gelding must deal with a wide gate eighteen, but he is a speedy sort who should be able to work his way across without using up too much gas.

YANKEE ONE is a 3-year-old filly taking on males, but she has only had two runs to date, winning on debut over 1100M and then finishing second over six furlongs next time out, 0.8L back from the winner, but she did hang out approaching the home turn in that event and then come three wide into the home stretch. She returns from a 24-week break, but has had two barrier trials, finishing third in the latest. The filly will also be having her first run for her new trainer and if fully settled into her new surroundings, she should give a good account of herself here, notwithstanding a wide draw eleven.

Race 8

YET HE MOVES won over this c&d three runs back, finished third in his penultimate start over the same c&d and then second in his latest outing over a mile, one length behind the winner, when returning from a 17-week break, but he had to be held up between the 400M and 300M mark. He then came four wide into the home stretch and his jockey put up 0.5kgs overweight, so that effort is best ignored. The gelding has had a barrier trial since then and from his useful draw two, he could be hard to topple and is taken to be the best bet on the day’s card.

SMART LEGEND has consistent formlines to his credit having finished third in five of his last six runs, the latest over this c&d, beaten just a short-head. He sat just behind the leader in that event and only just failed to reel him in over the closing stages. The gelding faces a wide draw ten, but will have 2kgs removed from his allocated weight courtesy of his claiming apprentice and could be the biggest threat to the top pick.

ALLHALLOWTIDE won his penultimate start over a mile and then finished ninth next time out over the same journey, 4.2L adrift of the victor, but he was slow away on that occasion and had to be held up at the entrance to the home straight. The form of that race has however stood up well with two runners out of that contest subsequently winning and from his kinder gate three, he should be involved in the finish.
