Race 4

ANDERSON BRIDGE has cracked pole position and jumped awkwardly and did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight when finishing seventh last time out over 2200M, 5.2L behind the winner, so he had his excuses. With better luck in running and with champion jockey James McDonald in the irons, he will be hoping to chalk up his second career win and is taken to be the value bet on the day’s card.

BULLETS HIGH is seldom far off the action and was slow away, but stayed on well to end up in sixth place last time out over 1800M, just over two lengths back from the winner, suggesting that he should appreciate going the extra ground on offer here. The gelding gets gate six and should turn in another honest effort here.

GOTTABESAVVY had his consistency rewarded with a half-length victory last time out over 2000M. He finished powerfully from some way back in that event and whilst drawn wide in gate twelve, he is likely to be dropped out of it in the early stages and then start to pick off the front runners over the latter part of the race.

Race 5

The day’s best bet, PERENNIAL is a three-time winner from five starts and won over 1000M three runs back, finished second in his penultimate start over the same sprint trip and then fifth in his latest outing also over 1000M, 3.8L behind the winner, but he raced three wide without cover in that contest. The gelding has a handy draw four and will have 3kgs taken off his back thanks to his claiming apprentice.

A 4-year-old and a 3-year-old filly could chase him home, with the slight preference going to BEST INTENT who has solid form, winning her latest outing over 1000M, albeit by just a head. She did however have to be held up in the home straight until the 200M mark, before showing a good turn of foot to get up in the shadow of the post. She is drawn one inside the top pick and could emerge as his biggest danger.

CINEMATIC STAR missed out on her hat-trick after two victories over 1000M when finishing third last time out before stepping up to 1200M, 1.8L behind the winner, but it should be noted that she jumped awkwardly bumping another runner that day and came four wide into the home stretch. The filly faces a wide draw ten out of eleven, but she should be doing her best work late to be involved in the finish.
Race 6

FLEETWOOD won over 1200M three runs back, finished fifth in his penultimate start over the same trip and then seventh in his latest outing, again over 1200M, just under two and a half lengths adrift of the winner. He raced three wide without cover that day and then came five wide into the home straight, before battling all the way down to the wire. The gelding returns from a 20-week break, but has had two barrier trials, finishing second in the latest and is sure to put his pole position to good use to give jockey James McDonald his second winner in the day’s Jackpot.

ACCREDITED raced three wide throughout before hitting the front at the 120M mark and then holding off all the late challengers in the dash down to the wire to win his last start over 1200M by a half-length and was immediately rested for 19 weeks. He returns here after having had two barrier trials, finishing second in the first and winning the latest and despite a wide draw nine, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

OCEANS ONE has finished second in his last two runs and raced three wide without cover before staying on well last time out over 1100M, just a half-length back from the victor. He returns from a 13-week rest, but has finished second in his only barrier trial to showcase his well-being and although draw wider in gate eleven, he will be hoping to go one better today.

Race 7

This looks to be a tricky race with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. DEFINING is a 5-year-old mare taking on the boys, but she put her disappointing penultimate start over 1500M behind her when finishing second next time out over 1300M, two lengths back from the winner, notwithstanding jumping awkwardly bumping another runner in the process and then racing three wide without cover. From her useful draw three, she could be the one that they all have to beat.

PURE ALPHA has only had two runs to date, finishing second on debut over 1400M and then showing the expected improvement to win next time out over the same journey by just under a half-length. The gelding returns from an 18-week spell, but has had two barrier trials, finishing third in the latest. He will have to negotiate a wide draw twelve, but the booking of James McDonald catches the eye.

ATLANTIC OCEAN is the stable companion of the latter and has consistent formlines to his name, following up his penultimate run victory over 1400M with a third-place finish next time out over 1200M, just over two lengths adrift of the winner, when returning from a 16-week rest. He was however held up at the 200M pole that day and from a kinder draw six, he makes a solid back-up for the powerful Chris Waller yard.
