Race 4

FLASHING STEEL goes for his hat-trick after two victories over 1500M, the latest when putting three lengths between himself and the opposition. He went from jump to wire that day and despite hanging out from the 200M mark, he chalked up a comfortable win. The gelding gets a handy draw four and looks to be the one to side with here.

MONEY FROM THE SKY followed up his penultimate run victory over 1500M with a fifth-place finish next time out over the same c&d, 3.3L back from the winner, when having his first run for his new trainer. He lost a length at the start that day, but made good late progress over the latter stages. The gelding would have come on further with that run under his belt and from gate seven, he should be right up there when they hit the line.

CINQUE TORRI showed solid improvement to finish second last time out over 1500M, three lengths back from the victor. He raced just behind the leaders in that event and battled all the way down to the wire. He has a kinder draw two and should be included in all bets.

Race 5

This looks to be a tricky F&M Handicap with plenty of runners in with a realistic chance of finding the winner’s box, so some caution is suggested. NEVER SECOND was a tad disappointing when finishing just under five lengths adrift of the winner last time out over 1100M, but she was slow away, finding herself towards the tail of the field, but nevertheless finished off her race strongly. She has pulled gate six and could give the trainer/jockey combination of Annabel Neasham and James McDonald the first two legs of the day’s Jackpot.

LOVERO has consistent formlines to her name and followed up her penultimate run victory over 1100M with a third-place finish next time out over the same c&d, just over a length and a half off the winner, but she was reported to have bled that day, so that effort should be ignored. She returns here after a 27-week spell but has finished second in her only barrier trial to showcase her well-being. She has pulled a useful draw three and is likely to turn in another honest performance today.

PETULANT finished fourth in her latest outing over 1100M, two lengths behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. She has a wideish draw eight, but she gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, she should be a big runner here.

Race 6

The day’s value bet, RAMONES has cracked pole position and won his penultimate run over six furlongs and then failed to respond to his jockey’s urgings when ending up in ninth place last time out over 1300M, 11.8L behind the winner and was immediately rested for 20 weeks. He returns here after having had the two barrier trials, winning the first and finishing second in the latest to prove his fitness.

KING OF NAPLES last three runs over six furlongs have yielded a third, second and a victory last time out by two lengths. He sat just behind the frontrunners in that contest and then accelerated smartly in the home stretch before holding off the chasing pack in the dash down to the wire. The gelding also returns from a 20-week rest and has won and finished third in his two barrier trials. From draw six, he may well be good enough to chalk up a quick double.

MASTER SHOWMAN won his penultimate start over six furlongs and then finished fourth next time out the same sprint trip, just under a half-length behind the winner. He raced just behind the pace that day and then looked a possible winner when hitting the front shortly after entering the home stretch, only to be run out of it late. The colt has a wideish draw eight, but he should not be easily overlooked in this line up.

Race 7

QUEENMAKER is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has won two of her last three starts and finished second in the other, her latest victory came when trouncing the opposition by four lengths last time out over 1900M. She struck the front at the top of the home straight that day and the result was never in doubt from that point. She has gate five and is made the best bet on the day’s card.

MANBEHINDTHEMONEY jumped awkwardly and did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight before finishing well to end up in third spot last time out over a mile, just over a length and a half-length behind the winner. He will have to deal with a wide gate eighteen, but he will be having his peak run after returning from a 31-week spell.

KINGDOM OF GOLD on the other hand has a useful draw two and has his peak run after returning from a shorter 22-week break. The gelding won his last start over nine furlongs, albeit by just a short head and should be involved in the finish.
