Race 4

Two 4yr old fillies could fight out the finish to this race, but the day’s best bet, TINNIE WINNIE gets the nod for top spot. She has won three of her last four starts over a variety of distances and finished third in the other event. She is looking for her hat-trick here after winning her last start over 1550M, when putting 3.3L between herself and the opposition. She went from jump to wire that day when returning from a 10-week rest and from her handy draw four, she could prove hard to reel in over the closing stages.

YGGDRASIL is the stable companion to the top choice who won over a mile four runs back and has finished second in her next three runs, the latest over this c&d, just a head behind the winner. She battled all the way down to the wire that day and from draw six, she could emerge as the biggest danger to the top choice and makes a solid back-up for the powerful Chris Waller yard.

COLOUR SERGEANT has won two of his last three outings, the latest over 1700M by just under one and a half lengths, despite having to be switched at the 250M mark. He hit the front at the 150M pole and then held off the chasing pack in the dash down to the wire. The gelding jumps from a wide draw nine, but he nevertheless should be involved in the finish.

Race 5

BARTOSELLI has only had the three runs to date and followed up his maiden victory in his penultimate run over six furlongs with a second-place finish last time out over the same sprint distance, just a half lengths behind the winner and the form of that race has been franked. He jumped awkwardly that day, but recovered quickly to take over the lead and then stayed on well over the latter stages. He returns from a 24-week absence but has had the two barrier trials, finishing second in them both. He has a useful gate two and looks to be the one to side with here.

ASPEN CHASE goes for his hat-trick after wins over five furlongs and the latest over 1100M by a short-head. He finished strongly that day to claim victory in the shadow of the post. The gelding gets gate five and the trio looks very much on the cards.

EGYPTIAN TYCOON won over 1100M on debut and then went on to finish sixth last time out over the same trip, 4.8L adrift of the winner. He will have to negotiate draw ten, but he gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, he should be a big runner here.

Race 6

PLEADING is a four-time winner from seven starts, having also finished second once and third twice in her other three outings, so she clearly has some ability She was just over a length and a half behind the winner last time out over six furlongs when finishing third, but she raced three-wide into the home straight that day and the form of that contest has been franked. She gets a cozy draw four and will have 2kgs taken off her back thanks to her claiming apprentice. As such, she is made the value bet on the day’s card.

MISS FOX showed plenty of toe when making marked improvement to end up in second place last time out over five furlongs, 0.7L back from the winner. She faces a wide draw twelve, but on the plus side, she will get an even greater 3kgs removed from her allocated weight courtesy of her claiming apprentice.

DISTILLATE is a speedy sort who was run out of it late last time out over six furlongs, 6.8L adrift of the victor and although drawn wide in gate nine, she should appreciate the drop in trip and should not be lightly dismissed.

Race 7

BLACK QUEEN is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she is seldom far off the action, finishing fourth last time out over seven furlongs, 2.3L off the winner when returning from a 19 week break. She jumped awkwardly in that contest and then did not get the clearest of passages in the home straight, so should have finished closer to the winner than she officially did. She gets a handy draw four and could give trainer Chris Waller the opening and closing leg of the day’s Jackpot.

CONTRIBUTINGFACTOR raced wide without cover in the early stages before kicking clear of the field at the 250M mark to go on and win his last start over 1500M by 0.8L. He will have to overcome a wide draw nine but will have 2kgs taken off his back for the service of his claiming apprentice to aid his cause.

KIRKEBY is the stable companion to the top choice and had finished third in his two runs prior to having a 20-week rest. He finished fourth over 1550M on his return, 3.2L behind the winner, but he fought all the way down to the wire that day and the form of that event has been franked. The gelding jumps from gate two and should be right up there when they hit the line.
