The four-year old gelding has campaigned in much stronger company and the engaging of a top jockey could make all the difference. The Mike Robinson inmate has experience on this track and he seems to be crying out for this extra ground. His good barrier position is a major help on this testing circuit.

BLACKMORE was immediately rested for nine weeks after his disappointing last run in heavy going. His smart penultimate victory over this c & d showed that he will be a force during the summer and the Kannemeyer inmate would have benefitted from the layoff. He is a major contender in this line-up.

Jockey: Dillon D – Trainer: Snaith J S
There are some top class three-year olds in this handicap and an exciting finish is expected. BARITONE appears a top sort in the making and he is improving swiftly. The well-related Trippi colt was an impressive maiden winner over six furlongs second time out and then followed up with a powerful late burst to win his handicap debut over an extra furlong, three weeks later. He has cracked a good draw on his track debut and has huge scope for further progress.
Race 8: MORNING LIGHT(2) – TOP BET

MORNING LIGHT benefitted from blinkers when she bounced back to form with a smart last run over a mile on this track, two weeks ago. She ran on strongly for 2nd in a competitive line-up that day and can go one better over this ten furlongs. BE FABULOUS continues to be consistent and she is a former c & d winner. She was outrun late into 3rd in a strong field over a mile last time and is a lively contender in this lower company.

This is a most intriguing novice contest and an upset could be on the cards. DO BE SNAPPY is better than his recent form suggests and he loves racing on this country course. He probably didn’t enjoy the soft conditions in his last few starts but had promising form prior to that and runs well for this jockey. He could easily bounce back to his best form in this event.
