Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 2: COUNT RED(5)
Jockey: Stallone NAIDOO – Trainer: Sharon B COETZEE

COUNT RED benefitted from blinkers as he quickly bounced back to form with a pleasing last effort on the polytrack. He was outrun late into 2nd after setting the pace over the eleven furlongs and can go one better over this slightly shorter trip. The four-year-old gelding could enjoy the run of the race in this small field.

Race 3: RAINBOW SKINK(5)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

The fillies could have a good say in this maiden contest and RAINBOW SKINK can certainly build on her fair comeback sprint on her local debut seven days ago. She had some useful form in the ‘Mother City’ over further & today’s extra two furlongs will suit her well. Of course, she hails from a red-hot yard and her pole barrier position is a major plus.

Race 5: CAPTAIN DISKO(11)
Jockey: Chase MAUJEAN – Trainer: Renate DU PLESSIS

CAPTAIN DISKO is seldom far off and he produced a gutsy last display despite racing wide in a similar contest. The four-year-old gelding ran on well to finish just over two lengths adrift of JUST TOO EARLY and he now meets that rival on 2.5kgs better terms. He jumps from a good stallgate and should be very competitive.

Race 8: BAYLISIANA(2)

Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

BAYLISIANA was racing fresh on his local debut when he made late progress after finding traffic problems in much stronger company. It was a game effort from the former Gauteng resident who will strip fitter and is favourably drawn in this very ordinary handicap. The slight concern is that he prefers an extra furlong but a likely solid pace will help.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 1: GOLDEN SHAMROCK(7)

Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Gavin SMITH

The Sacred Oration formline on 24/02 is well-represented in this opening juvenile event. GOLDEN SHAMROCK was unfancied when he ran on too late on that occasion and he should relish today’s extra furlong. He has just over two lengths to find on the runner-up & form contender DESERT CHIEF but his favourable draw and experience could play a significant role.
