Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: RING O’ VAR(4)
Jockey: Chase MAUJEAN – Trainer: Duncan MCKENZIE

RING O’VAR has shown smart improvement since relocating to this province and racing on this surface. She went close in each of her last two runs over six furlongs and had the 3rd placed finisher SKETCHES OF SPAIN more than two lengths adrift three weeks ago. Her yard ended a barren spell with a victory last Friday and this bay filly can continue the trend here. She should be equally effective over this minimum distance.

Race 3: JUST CORAL(8)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

JUST CORAL is one of many fillies who represents the Rustic Sunrise c & d formline but this bay daughter of Right Approach has the most scope and she could be worth following. She has handled her racing well and despite having a slow start in her second run inside three days recently, the Greeff inmate ran on smartly for a close 3rd, beaten just over one length at the line. She has just three parts of a length to find on the long-time struggling maiden CLASS QUEEN who set the pace that day but crucially gets the stable jockey aboard here.

Race 4: APOC(11)

Jockey: Teaque GOLD
– Trainer: Des J.MCLACHLAN

The veteran gelding APOC has surprised a few with two decent comeback runs on this surface and he could represent some decent each/way value in this wide open low-key handicap. The six-year-old chestnut stayed on well for 3rd behind Scent over this c & d a fortnight ago and was subsequently docked a pound in his rating. He should be cherry-ripe today and rates a definite contender from another good draw.

Race 6: DANCE IN THE WOODS(9)

Jockey: Ryan MUNGER – Trainer: Jaques STRYDOM

There are many speedy sorts who should ensure a blistering pace in this low-key handicap. The lightly weighted DANCE IN THE WOODS is in decent form and she could profit most from the strong gallop. The chestnut mare is c & d suited and she will be cherry-ripe on her peak performance.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: FOR LUCK SAKE(9)

Jockey: Teaque GOLD – Trainer: Des J.MCLACHLAN

This is another tricky low-key handicap but there could be some decent value about the top selection FOR LUCK SAKE who has his handicap debut. The five-year-old gelding is a track specialist who took a while to shed his maiden certificate. He then suffered a setback which kept him out of action for more than one year but he showed vast improvement when equipped with blinkers recently. The son of Sail From Seattle ran way above his rating when finishing 4th in a strong field of novices that included subsequent winner Rogue Runner. He jumps from a much better draw this time around and will prefer racing on these handicap terms. He can upset with the headgear fitted once again.
