Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: STRUCTURED REPLY(2)
Race 2: HOT MAMBO(5)
Race 4: SINGH IS KING(4)
Race 8: MATRESSE(1)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: GLEN COCO(8)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: Dennis DRIER

GLEN COCO has posted two fair efforts on the grass at Scottsville to date and he should continue to progress. The Drier inmate recovered from a slow start and showed good speed before tiring late in a competitive line-up, second time out. The 3rd placed finisher, his stable companion, Seattle Skyline, boosted the formline with a subsequent victory and this bay gelding could use his pace to good effect on his polytrack debut tonight. He jumps from a decent draw.

TOP BET

Race 2: HOT MAMBO(5)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: Mark DIXON

There are some speedy sorts in this competitive field where HOT MAMBO is expected to making a winning track debut. The pacey daughter of Mambo In Seattle produced two quality efforts on the grass at Scottsville in September and those formlines have worked out well. She is well drawn this evening and should continue to progress with experience.

Race 3: NAPOLI(1)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS
 – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

This is a competitive low-key handicap and in the absence of a natural pacesetter, top jockey Anton Marcus could capitalize with his mount NAPOLI. The four-year-old gelding is set to shoulder top weight of 60.5kgs but he has been facing considerably stronger opposition for some time now. Furthermore, he enjoys this surface and went close to winning over this c & d, earlier this campaign. The Glen Kotzen inmate continues to steadily drop in the merit ratings and he could enjoy the run of the race. He wasn’t disgraced when dictating terms on the grass and he finished behind Nebula (Algoa Cup winner) on 17/06.

Race 8: AVAST(2)
Jockey: Serino MOODLEY – Trainer: Therese MITCHLEY

The long-time maiden AVAST has come back to form recently and she could be the right one in this qualified maiden plate. The four-year old bay filly benefitted from the 4kgs apprentice claim when she flew late and was denied victory by a short head over this c & d, two weeks ago. She finished just over two lengths in front of CAUSEWAY BAY that day and should again have the latter’s measure. The daughter of Jay Peg has finally cracked a top draw and she can go one better for her in-form apprentice.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: OFF RAMP(10)

Jockey: Eric S NGWANE – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

This highly competitive handicap is worthy of the title of the night’s topliner and with a few natural pacesetters present, the likely solid gallop should ensure a true result and an exciting finish. Trainer Dean Kannemeyer is known to go soft on his charges during breaks and that explains the below par last performance of the ultra-consistent OFF RAMP, who was returning from a 12 week rest. Her smart prior form on both local surfaces brings her right into contention despite the hike in class. The bay mare often finds a strong finish so the fast pace will suit her cause and she could represent decent each/way value with just 50.5kgs on her back. She is well drawn and is ideally c & d suited.
