Winning Form Best Bets

Race 1: COLD FRONT(8)
Race 4: PHIL’S POWER(13)
Race 6: BORDER HOPPER(4)
Race 7: TALK WRENCH(6)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: COLD FRONT(8)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Corne SPIES

The speedy Gauteng visitor COLD FRONT showed blistering toe in his much improved last start at the Vaal six days ago despite sweating up profusely in the contest. He stayed on for a very creditable 3rd beaten just over a length and a half and this quick surface could be the ideal tonic for him to exit the maiden ranks. He should take a power of beating.

Race 2: FEARLESS FRED(2)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Corne SPIES

An intriguing contest with a few maidens trying their hand at downing some very ordinary handicappers. The Corne’ Spies trained visitor FEARLESS FRED showed useful ability in the maiden ranks on the Highveld but he suffered a major setback which has kept him out of action for 37 weeks. That said, the switch to this forgiving surface could be ideal for the three-year old maiden whose pace will stand him in good stead on local debut. His last two conquerors have gone on to achieve much success in higher company.

Race 5: ELUSIVE SINGER(1)
Jockey: Wayne AGRELLA – Trainer: Tienie PRINSLOO

ELUSIVE SINGER
has come very well recently and his maximum eight pound penalty didn’t deter him from producing a smart last display over seven furlongs at a higher level two weeks ago. The bay gelding finished strongly for a close 2nd and he was in turn just over three lengths clear of the next placed entrant Imperial Gold. The son of Elusive Fort escaped further punishment and he holds strong claims if proving equally effective over the mile. The manner in which he finished that last start suggests that he should easily handle this trip.

TOP BET
Race 9: DOWNTOWN DANZA(2)
Jockey: Wayne AGRELLA – Trainer: Stephanie MILLER

DOWNTOWN DANZA
has continued his fine run of form but looked to have the measure of the relentless galloper Beachmaster before just failing over this c & d last Monday. Of course, he escaped without a penalty for that decent performance and his good draw hands him the initiative over the eye-catching 3rd placed finisher EXCALIVAR who once again has it all to do from possibly near the back of the field.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 3: BRITAIN’S BEST(6)
Jockey: Mathew THACKERAY – Trainer: Coerie LENSLEY

BRITAIN’S BEST
has kept her form well since relocating to this province and she finished a creditable 3rd against male rivals over this c & d last Monday. She is sure to prefer facing her own sex today and is a major contender with her in-form jockey in the saddle.
