Race 5: TEXICAN(2)
Race 8: SECRET SUCCESS(1)
Magic Tips Best Bets
Race 3: LOUELLA(6)Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS
LOUELLA was a tad disappointing in soft conditions over a similar trip recently but she deserves another chance. Of course, she showed her worth when staying on strongly for a close 3rd in her prior effort and the fitting of blinkers may do the trick. The daughter of Fort Wood has room for progress and she should be competitive on her polytrack debut.
Race 7: RED MOON AT NIGHT(6)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Dean KANNERMEYER
As expected, the night’s topliner is a very competitive contest which should produce another close affair. RED MOON AT NIGHT has a decent polytrack record and she had two pleasing comeback runs for her new yard. She finished well for 3rd behind PEARL EMBLEM (1kg worse off) over this c & d a fortnight ago and the engaging of top jockey Delpech could make all the difference. The Kannemeyer inmate will be cherry-ripe and she can avenge that recent 1.75 lengths deficit. She is once again drawn well.
TOP BET
Race 8: ANGEL LANDING(4)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: Paul LAFFERTY
ANGEL LANDING is above-average and the well-related colt has produced three solid performances on the grass at Scottsville to date. The form of his last start was given a major boost when the runner-up Newyorkstateofmind won twice subsequently. This son of Bold Silvano would have strengthened during his short break and he should continue to improve with racing. He is well drawn on his polytrack debut and should go close with this top jockey in the saddle. Race 1: GALTERO(5)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Yogas GOVENDER
GALTERO is the narrow first selection in a very ordinary opening maiden contest. The well-bred colt is only having his fifth career start and he has shown some fair form to date, including a best effort over this c & d, four weeks ago. He was well beaten into 3rd behind runaway winner Winter Is Coming that day but possibly just needed the outing and should be fitter. He is the yard’s only entrant this evening and top jockey Delpech takes the ride.
VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 5: GREATFIVEEIGHT(4)
Jockey: Athandiwe MGUDLWA – Trainer: Sean TARRY
GREATFIVEEIGHT failed to kick on in his last start over further, seven days ago but the drop in trip could make the difference for the Tarry inmate who should benefit from blinkers. The Kahal gelding stayed on for a decent 4th over nine furlongs on this track in his penultimate showing and can quickly bounce back to form here. He meets a similar field.
