TOP BET
Race 1: STORM OUTGOING(7)
Jockey: Brandon LERENA
– Trainer: Charles LAIRD

STORM OUTGOING never recovered from a slow start in his below-par last showing on a rain-affected polytrack but he should be a totally different proposition today. He produced the run of his career when runner-up over 1900m on this course in his penultimate effort and is a confident first choice.

Race 2: VICTORY CROSS(6)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO
– Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

VICTORY CROSS has improved nicely since going beyond seven furlongs and she has kept that form. She may have just needed her comeback run when finishing well for 3rd over a mile at Scottsville and she now renews her rivalry with the runner-up, QUEEN DIVA. The top selection finished ahead behind the latter that day but she will strip fitter and more importantly, she has already proved herself over a similar distance. The Duncan Howells inmate stayed on for 3rd in soft conditions over 1950m in her penultimate start so should have little issue with today’s ten furlongs. She is drawn alongside her market rival.

Race 3: CUPKING(5)
Jockey: Dennis SCHWARZ – Trainer: Paul LAFFERTY

CUPKING
runs well for this 2.5kgs claiming apprentice and the pair ran on for 2nd over this trip on the polytrack a fortnight ago. The bay gelding is equally effective on the grass as he showed when again making late strides over seven furlongs on this course in early December. His yard seems to be turning the corner and the top rating should give another honest performance from his good draw.

Race 7: SEATOPS(3)
Jockey: Dennis SCHWARZ – Trainer: Michael ROBERTS

SEATOPS had legitimate excuses for her two moderate showings after her breathtaking debut victory in a feature on the grass at Scottsville. She over-raced on a soft track over seven furlongs second time out and was then perhaps unsuited to the polytrack subsequently. The daughter of Mambo In Seattle has lots of class about her and she would have greatly benefitted from the ten-week break. She jumps from pole position on her track debut today and could take some beating if at the top of her game.

Race 4: TROPICAL BLOW(4)

Jockey: Diego DE GOUVEIA – Trainer: Paul LAFFERTY

TROPICAL BLOW has plenty in her favour and she can hand her conditioner a quick double on today’s card. She has performed creditably to date and faces her own sex after a decent last run against male rivals over this trip at Scottsville. The 2.5kgs apprentice allowance and her good draw are major advantages. That said, she does meet a competitive line-up so will be made to work hard for victory.
