OPENING GAMBIT dislodged his jockey in his last outing, but had solid form before that. He has cracked pole position and will be partnered by Samuel Mosia, who has enjoyed much success in these workriders events in the past. He is however carded to run on 20 Feb and his progress in that event will need to be checked.

Only three of the thirteen runners in this event have had runs and as is always the case in these type of contests, a close eye must be kept on the betting market. Any support for the unraced entrants should be respected. Of the raced runners, DUBAWI PRINCESS could be the pick. She was running on well second time out over five furlongs and on that effort, she should enjoy going over the extra trip.

HEART STWINGS has her peak run here. She finished strongly to win her last outing over ten furlongs and will be looking to complete the double today. Her overall form is solid and she should put in another honest performance this afternoon.

MAGIC MILA is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has reeled off two wins on the bounce and attempts her trio of wins here. Both those wins were over a mile and she tries the nine furlongs for the first time today, but she showed plenty of courage to win her last start and may prove difficult to overhaul in the run down to the finishing post. Warren Kennedy who has been aboard for those last two victories retains the ride.

SOUTH EAST showed the expected improvement second time out when only narrowly failing to win over this c&d. He hung in the closing stages of that race and this almost certainly cost him his victory. He must be considered a big runner here.
