Race 5
CLOAK AND DAGGER followed up his win in his penultimate start over this c&d with a second place finish over six furlongs next time out when attracting plenty of betting support. He was only collared on the line that day and will be looking to make amends today. The drop in trip will most likely be in his favor and from gate three he is taken to be the best bet on today’s card. Whilst KNIGHT TEMPEST was recorded as finishing seventh last time out over 1300M, he was just 1.4L back. He was also outrun late on that occasion, so the drop in distance should be to his liking. He is drawn one inside the top choice and could be his biggest danger. CONCRETE MADAME is a 4yr old filly taking on the boys, but she finished fourth last time out over this c&d. She is drawn wide out at eleven, but she should use her early gate speed to move across without using up too much energy.
Race 6
A 4yr old filly and a 5yr old mare could dominate the finish to this contest and complete the exacta. AMILLIONITE and WEMBLEY DAYZ renew their rivalry here and a form reversal is possible. The former raced three wide before staying on well to finish third in her last outing over the c&d, just under a length behind the winner. She has a handy four draw and could be the one to be with here. The latter is drawn one inside the former and is seldom far off the winner. She was only nabbed close to the line when finishing second in the race mentioned above, just 0.2L in front of the top choice. Either way, there should not be too much separating the pair when they hit the wire. ORAVA gets a set of blinkers fitted for the first time and if these have the desired effect, he could trouble the top two selections. He has his peak run today and jumps from gate two.
Race 7
This looks to be a tricky contest and some caution is advised. VENGEANCE OF WAR made good late progress when finishing fourth last time out over the c&d, 2.2L off the winner. He has a wideish nine draw, but should be picking off the frontrunners over the closing stages of the race. ANCIENT REMEDY showed marked improvement to win his maiden race last time out over the c&d. He kept going well that day and whilst taking on stronger here, he could be up to the task on hand. STARALIGN was a tad disappointing in his last outing over this c&d, but if bouncing back to some of his better form, he should be respected in this line-up. HOTHAM VALLEY came wide into the straight in his latest outing over the seven furlongs and should have finished closer that he eventually did. With better luck in running today, he may be able to threaten the top three selections.
Race 8
RAPID EYE MOVEMENT is a 3yr old filly taking on the boys, but she has consistent formlines to her name and was reward for that with her third career victory over this c&d last time out. She is drawn in gate five and can be expected to turn in another honest performance here. DEEL RED did not get the clearest passage when ending up in second place last time out over seven furlongs at this track, just one and a half lengths behind the winner. He has and even better draw of two and could emerge as the biggest threat to the former. PINK AND PURPLE is a 4yr old filly taking on males and has her first run for her new trainer. She has posted solid form at the venue in the past and if fully settled into her new surroundings, she must have some sort of chance here.
