This five-year old mare wasn’t far off the winner in her comeback effort when beaten two and half lengths by The Mpex Kid at Fairyhouse. She will strip much fitter this afternoon and it is encouraging that Hayes has kept faith in the ride.
Race 5 No7 SHONA MEA
Trainer: J. Harrington – Jockey: S. Foley
This three-year-old filly put her best foot forward under Foley last time out when winning by a length and the penny may have just dropped. She doesn’t take on the strongest rivals this afternoon and will take a power of beating in this contest.
Race 7 No4 GREAT HOUSE
Trainer: D. O’Brien – Jockey: G. Ryan
This four-year old son of Galileo found plenty support in the market on debut which would suggest that he was showing his connections some potential back at home. He was only beaten by half a length on that occasion and with apprentice Ryan retaining the ride, he will be difficult to peg back in the closing stages of this contest.
Race 8 No5 NEW VOCATION
Trainer: M. Mulvany – Jockey: N. Crosse
This five-year old mare has finished runner-up in her last two starts and was only beaten just over a length by Wilderness. She will benefit from a 2.5kgs apprentice allowance and looks fairly-handicapped in the lucky last race.
