International Racing: Singapore – Kranji Best Bets Friday 6 September

The Winning Form Team bring you all of their best bets and tips for Singapore’s Kranji’s racing on Friday 6 September 2019.

A competitive card of 8 races kicks off the weekend, this Friday at Singapore’s Kranji Turf Club. The headline event appears to be the 6th race, a Novice Poly Sprint over 1200m. No less than 5 runners won their last start and other than The Nutter who be looking for further, there appears to be plenty of speed in the race. The 7th race is a Class 3 1000m dash, where 12 runners go to post and that could be considered the supporting feature on the card.

Best Bet: DIAMOND RING
Value Bet: KISS YOUR SONG

Race 1

Selections: 5 – 1 – 9 – 12 – 11

A Class 5 event kicks off the meeting here, where 12 runners go to post and there appears to be very little to separate the top two selections – HERO STAR and KRANJI GOLD. The former found himself just a length behind the latter in their last meeting (4 August 2019) over this trip, on the turf. HERO STAR carries 0.5kg more this time around, but he does have the luxury of jumping from pole and this should suite his preference for racing up handy with the early speed. He showed good improvement in his follow up effort on the Poly and with Woodworth retaining the ride, he’s the selection for first prize. KRANJI GOLD has improved since dropping into Class 5 events in his last two starts and although he has rarely been seen on the poly, it doesn’t seem to bother him. For that reason, one can expect a resumption of his most recent form. He has been dropping in the ratings and looks ready for another big run. RIVER HAPPINESS has been just off them in his last two starts, but he has only had 8 in total and seems to have enough scope to continue his progression. He is 3 kg’s better off with GROS PITON on his penultimate run, where he finished just under 5 lengths behind the latter. From stall gate 2 today, he could very well reverse their finishing order and looks a value inclusion. GROS PITON has been thereabouts in his last three starts, over the course and distance. All three runs have been in Class 5 company, after progressing from Maiden opposition and although only having 11 runs under his belt he looks to have enough scope to be competitive here.

Race 2

Selections: 9 – 7 – 11 – 12 – 6

The second race on the card is a WFA event over 1200m, where all 14 runners lining up at the start are three-year-olds. Number 13 (BEAUTY SPIRIT) is a filly, so she will receive the 1.5kg sex allowance. QIJI ACHEEVA looks to be the obvious selection for the winner’s box, having followed up his solid debut run on Turf with a victorious Trial on the Poly. He lands a plum draw for this outing and with his regular rider sticking with him, he should be tough to beat. TOBRUK has a tough draw to overcome, but he appears to have good early speed and that was demonstrated in his most recent Trial. He was well beaten in 2nd on debut, but he too finished well in front of the remainder of the field on that occasion and should have enough scope to fight this out again. MIGHTY VAIN has his debut today, but he has given a good account of himself in all four Trials to date and he lands gate three for his career opener. The Australian bred son of Safeguard should enjoy the extra furlong and he must be considered. WAR PRIDE was just touched off in that useful effort, when seeing the racecourse for the first time in a trial. It wasn’t done in a quick time, but he did it easily and that run would’ve bought him on a lot for his debut today.

Race 3

Selections: 5 – 6 – 2 – 1 – 7

JUSTICE LIGHT is the selection for first here. He has been in useful form since reverting back to Class 4 opposition three starts back and he should enjoy the slight drop in trip today. He gets the service of Benny Woodworth in the irons from gate four and the course and distance winner looks likely to add to that useful career record. FIRST CHOICE is the second choice and not just for the convenient play on words. He has notched up all three career victories on the Poly and thus will enjoy reverting back to this surface, after a modest performance last time out on Turf. He did far too much in the early parts of that race and it was no surprise to see him tire late on. He has a tricky draw to negate, but he has early speed and with a bit of luck in early running should be handy. SNIP has been just off them in his last five starts and he proved his good recent form with a solid gallop last week. His poor luck with draws continues, but he gets the services of a useful claimer and he should be involved the finish. LEADING CELLIST showed good improvement last time out, when dropping into this class of opposition. He looks competitive off his current rating and if overcoming the draw, should be in with a shout.

Race 4

Selection: 9 – 2 – 1 – 5 – 3

A tough race to analyse, as there aren’t too many with any useful form to go by. KING WARRIOR is our first selection and a weak one at that. He showed good improvement last time out, when dropping from a mile to seven furlongs and the key to that improvement could be his early speed. He is only a one-time winner from 16 starts, but if overcoming that wide draw, he should have the form to win this. ANALYST showed useful improvement over the extra furlong last time out, when boxing on well from a wide draw for a 2.30 length beating. He jumps from pole today and should give a good account of himself, if building on that last start. ROMAN CLASSIC is still a maiden after 18 starts and he reverts back to this surface after a modest effort on Turf last time out. He drops further in ratings and in class and could improve to find the places. HEAVENLY HAND lands a much-improved draw today, after having no such luck in his last two starts. He has been just off them in his three runs prior to that and from gate 6 today, could improve to feature.

Race 5

Selection: 7 – 1 – 11 – 3 – 10

PINDUS, the son of Exceed And Excel (AUS) and formerly under the ownership of Godolphin, makes his official debut after two decent trials since arriving from Australia. He was placed 7 times from 10 starts ‘Down Under’ and things certainly look to be going his way since making the journey north. He lands a handy draw and looks the one to beat, for the strong Ricardo Le Grange yard. LIM’S KNIGHT appears to be the form horse, of the rest. He boxed on well from a wide draw last time and if repeating that effort from another difficult draw, he should be in the late charge for the line. GOLDEN KID has placed in all three of his starts to date, albeit by a relatively big margin. All three of those runs have been in Open Maiden or Restricted company and off a low rating for his handicap debut today, he could be anything. SIERRA CONUEROR showed fair improvement for this apprentice last time out. One could be inclined to put a line through his penultimate start, when taking up the early running over the 6 furlongs on Turf and from a good draw today he should be in with a shout.

Race 6

Selections: 7 – 2 – 8 – 9 – 3

DIAMOND RING was an emphatic winner on debut, over the course and distance last time. He has been given a rating of 54 for today’s outing, which translates into a handy galloping weight of 51.5kg. If confirming that debut effort, he should be very hard to catch in the latter stages and appears to be the best bet on the card. Watch Tobruk in Race 2, to see if the form of his debut effort is confirmed. The New Zealand bred COMING THROUGH was another easy winner on debut, in open handicap company. That was over the 1100m and from another useful draw, he should enjoy the slight step up in trip today. Like the former, he enjoys racing up with the speed and looks set to mount a late challenge. He does however carry a full 6.5kg more than the top selection and on that basis, could be held. CHARMING DIAMOND has improved with the better draw in his last two starts and may have just needed that trial, last time out. Kellady sticks with the ride and he looks to be a strong place contender. FIELD MARSHALL took full advantage of the age allowance he received in that debut run, on the 28th July. That run was on Turf and he had a tricky draw to negate on that occasion. He has won both his Trials on Poly and from gate 5 today, he could fight out the places for this in-form stable.

Race 7

Selections: 7 – 2 – 6 – 1 – 9

Twelve runners line up in this penultimate race on the card, a Class 3 event and we side with the Aussie gelding – KISS YOUR SONG. He is an ever-consistent sort over this sort of trip and with his rating remaining relatively constant, he looks a big runner here. He won at this level last August and has faced some rather smart sorts ever since, without being disgraced. Kellady retains the ride. LIM’S DREAM showed up well when stepping up to this class, last time out. He had a wide draw to overcome in that run and from barrier two today, should find a good early position without much fuss. He returns from a six-week break and if tuned up, looks a threat to the top selection. AL GREEN has improved with every run, since dropping into this class of opposition, three starts back. The Argentinian son of Exchange Rate has been dropping in the ratings and from another useful draw, looks competitive. THE BIG EASY is tipped for the minor places. A four-time winner from 10 starts, he drops into Class 3 opposition today and carries top weight as a result. From gate 11, he will be looking to find a relatively handy position and if things fall into place, he could find himself in the money.

Race 8

Selections: 11 – 7 – 3 – 6 – 4

A Class 4 event over the mile wraps up the evening’s entertainment tonight and it looks a competitive race. We have sided with SUN ACE for the lion’s share of the prize money. The son of Street Cry has been thereabouts in his last three starts on the Poly. He has dropped 6 points in the ratings, in his last five starts and although he finished in 7th place last time out, he found severe traffic late on. He drops slightly in trip and is fitted with the visor for this run. From an improved draw, we make him the one to beat. LIFE IS GAMBLE has also dropped in the ratings and appears to have improved in his last two starts, since reverting to the Poly. He is only a one-time winner from 20 starts, but from another handy draw he should be right there again if repeating his latest effort. YULONG MEDAL has shown solid improvement since dropping in the ratings and reverting to this class of opposition. If overcoming the draw, he should be finish off his run well and looks potential upset material. SUPER RAY was disappointing last time out and never seemed to show up on the day. He steps up slightly in trip today and deserves consideration on both runs prior to that.
