Race 4: JE NE SAIS QUOI(13)

Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

JE NE SAIS QUOI was unfancied when she ran on strongly for a close 3rd on debut over this c & d in a competitive line-up a month ago and she should make natural progress.

Race 5: VARDY(4)

Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Adam MARCUS

The unbeaten VARDY had no issue negotiating the turn for the first time and he produced a smart late burst to beat subsequent winner Meraki going away over seven furlongs on his handicap debut last time out. The Var gelding was upped five pounds for his exertions but he certainly gave the impression that he is a real quality sort in the making and today’s extra furlong should suit him perfectly.

Race 6: EXPEDITE(7)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

The well-related daughter of Judpot, EXPEDITE has been a revelation this season and she has certainly progressed since going beyond a mile in her last two starts. Of course, she faces her stiffest to date at listed level here but the four-year-old still seems ahead of the handicapper despite a recent seven-pound penalty.

Race 7: NOUS VOILA(12)

Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

The highlight of today’s proceedings is this six-furlong Grade 2 contest where the three-year-olds and in particular the Bass-Robinson duo of NOUS VOILA and CLOUDS UNFOLD, could dominate the finish. The slight preference is for the former who has realized her earlier potential in recent starts and top jockey Marcus retains the mount after the pair stayed on for 2nd behind PE speedster Princess Rebel over the minimum distance last time out. This extra furlong suits the daughter of Judpot perfectly and she is the veteran rider’s solitary mount on the day.

Race 2: SALT(17)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO – Trainer: Dean KANNEMEYER

SALT is plagued with issues but he showed plenty of speed when registering an eye-catching comeback effort over this c & d in a decent line-up five weeks ago. His conditioner seldom gets them ready after a break so there should be further progress to come from this son of Dynasty.
