Magic Tips Best Bets

Top Bet
Race 3: NEWLANDS(5)
Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

NEWLANDS found some betting support when he made a decent debut over six furlongs in open company, two weeks ago. He was understandably green but ran on steadily for 3rd behind the speedy Arctic Blast and would have come on with that experience. The son of High Chaparral will love today’s extra furlong and he should make natural improvement. He jumps from the best draw on his first venture around the turn.

Race 4: MIGHTY HASH(3)
Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Greg ENNION

MIGHTY HASH has turned his fortunes around since reverting to sprinting but he may have just found six furlongs too far for him in his last outing. The son of Captain Al raced prominently and produced his career best effort when tiring late into 3rd behind newcomer Mission Control over this c & d in his penultimate outing.

Race 5: BAQUEIRA(1)
Jockey: Sean VEALE – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

BAQUEIRA is extremely well-related and though she has shown some quality, the daughter of Western Winter has been costly to follow. Her new conditioner is still working out her optimum distance and now the chestnut reverts to sprinting after three efforts over further. She still has plenty more to offer and this drop in distance could bring out the best in the Brett Crawford inmate.

Race 7: ME MYSELF AND I(11)

Jockey: Sean VEALE – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

There was plenty to admire about the manner in which ME MYSELF AND I quickened to thrash a decent field of maidens when she tried the mile and turn for the first time in her second career outing, five weeks ago. The three-year-old daughter of Windrush has been thrown into the deepend straight away, indicating that she is rated by her conditioner but she does seem ahead of the handicapper’s low early assessment. She should love this extra furlong on her handicap debut and the Brett Crawford inmate could certainly be one worth following. She does have numerous older rivals who will severely test her mettle though.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: CAPTAIN SPLENDID(8)
Jockey: Robert KHATHI – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

This is an extremely competitive nine-furlong handicap and a close finish is expected. The three-year-old CAPTAIN SPLENDID is improving quickly and he ran on strongly for a close 2nd on his handicap debut over a mile, three weeks ago. He finished exactly three parts of a length in front of the 3rd placed runner DOCTOROW but could have more scope for progress and this extra furlong will be right up his alley. The Snaith inmate should handle the rise in class and his good draw is a definite plus.
