Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: MOUNT KEITH(1)
Jockey: Richard FOURIE – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

MOUNT KEITH benefitted from being gelded and he bounced back to form in his comeback run over this c & d, two weeks ago. He was 2nd best behind a highly rated sort but had some decent types adrift and he will strip fitter here. In-form jockey Richard Fourie retains the ride on the three-year-old and the pair should make their presence felt.

Race 3: MTOROSHANGA(13)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Paddy KRUYER

Once again there are some really smart maidens on display in this mile contest and this formline could be worth keeping an eye on. MTOROSHANGA walked out of the gates in both his starts to date but showed his ability by finishing well, particularly over six furlongs in yielding conditions, second time out. Top jockey Anton Marcus could do the trick on the Ashaawes colt who should relish the step up to the mile. The runner-up of that last start Copper Force gave that formline plenty of respectability by beating a decent field comfortably last Saturday. There should be heaps of improvement to come from the Paddy Kruyer inmate.

Race 5: BLACK CAT BACK(3)
Jockey: Corne ORFFER – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

The three-year-olds could dominate proceedings in this low-key handicap which should produce a close finish. BLACK CAT BACK is improving quickly and he had a smart handicap debut performance behind a decent type over six furlongs recently. He is clearly more effective over today’s distance though and the chestnut colt led throughout to easily win his maiden in his penultimate effort. He has lots of scope for progress and is well drawn in this competitive line-up.

Race 7: TABLE BAY(1)

Jockey: Anton MARCUS – Trainer: Joey RAMSDEN

Another top class field of three-year-olds line-up for this Grade 2 contest where a few unbeaten records are on the line. TABLE BAY isn’t one of them but the Redoute’s Choice colt looks a top prospect in the making. His record of four wins from six starts underlines his potential and the Joey Ramsden inmate produced a superb display to win the Cape Classic over seven furlongs recently. The mile should be right up his alley and the bay colt jumps from gate 2 on his peak showing. He is one worth following.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 6: BISHOP’S BOUNTY(5)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

A top class field of three-year-olds assemble for this super-rich stakes event where the locals hold a distinct advantage. BISHOP’S BOUNTY was touted a champion from day one and he has come along the right way. He certainly blossomed through the winter and finished strongly to beat some useful sprinters on his seasonal debut nine weeks ago. The son of Western Winter has been crying out for this extra furlong and that recent experience around the turn will be crucial today. He has loads of class about him and can give his popular owner Michael Leaf a double in this type of event after he won the Gauteng contest earlier this month. Top jockey Strydom partners the chestnut colt whose stablemate ZODIAC RULER could be the main threat.
